Sa. Thus it is said. Secondly, practicing the illusory body in the dream state at night, as before, knowing all appearances to be dreams, thereby practicing all appearances and existences as illusory dreams. Birth, death, negation, affirmation, and all illusions become proficient in dreams and illusions, and even in dreams they appear as such, so there is no attachment whatsoever. Furthermore, it says in the same text: Just as in the dream of a young girl, she sees a baby boy born and dying, and is happy when he is born and unhappy when he dies, so should you understand all phenomena. Thus it is said. At this time, the qualities of the path of union arise within oneself. The Ornament of Clear Realization says: Even in dreams, all phenomena are seen as dreamlike, etc. Reaching the peak is a sign of union, and it is considered to have twelve aspects. Thus, by practicing the illusory body day and night, there is no clinging to illusions as real, and the body is also transparent, appearing like a shadow, and seen as apparent but without reality. Therefore, the body has no shadow, and having mastered the illusory body of the bardo, one becomes a being of the last existence. For example, like the venerable Lama Rinpoche Gyalwa Zhangton and the scholar Nyi Bum. They also say in the Consequence School: Practice the illusory body and dreams, and by mastering them, the body itself also transforms like a shadow. By this, the body of the intermediate state will grasp these as itself. Thus it is said. Fourthly, relying on the instructions of the fourfold union of times for clear light, one practices. The outer fourfold union of times grasps the channels and winds as the life force. The instructions of the inner fourfold union of times exhaust the speech of words. The instructions of the secret fourfold union of times place the mind naturally without fabrication. The instructions of the suchness fourfold union of times unite the mother and child clear light. It says in the same text: In the outer four times, the yogi trains the skill of the body, the key is to hold the channels at their source. In the inner four times, the yogi trains the skill of speech, the key is to cut off the ornaments of speech. In the secret four times, the yogi trains the skill of the mind, the key is to become accustomed to sleep. In the four times of suchness, gathering body, speech, and mind with these, mix the great clear light with sleep. Having become accustomed to this, the yogi will definitely unite with the three bodies. Thus it is said.

O! The methods of practicing these are extensively explained in the 'Union of Four Times'. Here, the key points of the luminous Union of Four Times are summarized into four: During the day, the appearances are spread out like a curtain; in the evening, the senses are gathered into their places; at midnight, knowledge is placed into the vase; at dawn, wisdom is made clear. The first point is further divided into two: meditative equipoise and subsequent attainment. Meditative equipoise: if combined with sleep, one should lie down in the manner of a lion, supporting oneself with gentle breaths. Without closing the eyes, one should lie down with the mind focused on the sphere of five lights within the heart. When the external appearances gradually diminish, at the boundary between sleep and dreams, there is a certain non-conceptual clarity of awareness, which should be recognized as luminosity. By lying down without sinking into that state, sleep will manifest as luminosity, without dreams. Awareness is naturally clear in the state of samadhi. If one falls asleep, one will be aware that the appearances of forms, sounds, smells, etc., in the vicinity have not ceased. If one does not fall asleep, one will awaken from that state due to circumstances. It is merely that conceptual thought has ceased from the daytime appearances, but the individual aspects of appearance are still clear. That is, the mind-consciousness of the six aggregates has ceased, but the consciousnesses of the five senses have not ceased and are still clear. When the mind-consciousness dissolves into luminosity, the breath enters the central channel. Since the consciousnesses of the five senses are non-conceptual, the appearances of objects are also not controlled by grasping. This is called the luminosity that is clear and non-conceptual. At this time, the blissful luminosity is present in the state of samadhi; the clear luminosity is present in appearance, without interruption; the non-conceptual luminosity is naturally present in that state with its own non-conceptual nature. Therefore, the luminosity of the ground nature is primordially pure, and the luminosity of the self-illuminating child is inseparably merged. When clarity dawns upon the primordial clarity, it is called the merging of the mother and child luminosities. In the *Uttaratantra*, it says: 'The transference of luminosity is supreme, by training in the meditation of sleep, mastering the absence of day and night, when external appearances are clear, this accomplishes the great luminosity.' The naturally blissful luminosity is present at the time of co-emergent joy in meditative absorption; the clear luminosity is present at the time of the merging of day and night in samadhi; the non-conceptual luminosity is present at the time of the cessation of the mind's grasping and conceptualization. It is also present at other times, but it is difficult to recognize. At those times, the examples are clear and the meaning is easy to understand. The blissful luminosity makes it difficult to separate from samadhi and brings joy to appearances.
