The blending of appearance and mind: Not only can it transfer diseases, but also other sufferings and pleasures, regional environments, valleys, forests, etc., turning existence into non-existence, and non-existence into existence. It transfers by attracting what is elsewhere to here, and by throwing what is here to elsewhere. It transfers as if sentient beings were coming to the place of inanimate objects themselves. It transfers mounts and girls, etc., carried by the wind into the sky to their own place. For example, the great scholar Padmasambhava transferred the mountains of Mangyul, and the transfer of Nethang and forests to Samye, which still exist today. This is the supreme method for yogis to fulfill their wishes. In the Root Demolishing Tantra, it says: "The great fortunate yogi who desires to transfer, with the mind possessed of awareness, to the sentient beings appearing as forms, with the changes of inner consistent karma, transfers his own diseases etc. to others. By transferring in this way, one is liberated from objects. Others are accomplished through the combination of dependent origination. From the four elements of inanimate objects, through the dependent origination that transforms into objects, with numbers, symbols, and languages, change the target and transfer diseases etc. Sticks, pebbles, gravel, as well as grass, charcoal, tiles, etc., likewise water, earth, and sky, must be grasped to perform the work of transferring, transforming through the power of the yogic mind." Thus it is said. Secondly, dreams are of two types: preliminary and main practice. The first has three parts. Purification refers to purifying the three doors of body, speech, and mind through prostrations, circumambulations, recitations, and the gathering and dispersing of the mind for several days. The appearance of many chaotic dreams is a sign of accomplishment. Then, examining the thickness of the habitual tendencies from these dreams means that after a few days, one should relax completely, release tension, grasp the dream, and contemplate examination, without distraction, with single-pointed intention. If one dreams mostly of places to which one was previously attached, it indicates that the habitual tendencies of previous attachment are heavy, so transformation is difficult, belonging to the middle level. If one dreams mostly of the present, it indicates that it is very easy, and one can accomplish it in about three or four days. If one dreams of places one has never been to before and people one has never met, it indicates that it is difficult to cut off. If one dreams of all three mixed together, it indicates that the three habitual tendencies are mixed together, making it very difficult to cut off. Subjugation refers to grasping the dream. For this, single-pointed intention alone is the key to the pith instructions. During the day,

By thinking, "This is the path," suddenly generate the aspiration and certainty to be able to realize it. At night, you will definitely be able to seize (the dream state). At this time, practice the skills of not being afraid, transforming and changing, and viewing countries, etc., and you will be able to subdue appearances. Among these, first generate great devotion and aspiration for the lama. Initially, when fear arises from violent conditions such as water, fire, dogs, and enemies, think, "This is in a dream," and you will definitely be able to seize (the dream state). This is called "coarse seizing." After that, you will be able to seize everything you dream. When seizing, transformation is: during the day, transform the deity's body, sentient beings, and various different appearances in your mind, transforming from one to many. It will appear like transforming in a dream. After that, mutually transform gods into nagas, transform men into women, transform one into many, and transform many into one. Practice these without distraction during the day, and they will definitely appear in dreams. After that, by longing for countries and buddhafields that you have not been to before, you will reach them in dreams, hear the Dharma, and so on. If you generate strong aspiration for these, you will quickly achieve them. Some explain dream practice as the main practice, but here it is reasonable as a preliminary. Merely seizing the dream state and transforming is not the meaning of dharmata, and it does not liberate you from the clinging to the reality of the mind. Although most of the previous people have not spoken about these, they are spoken about in the explanations of subduing and the essential instructions of dream practice, so they are very important points. I myself have also practiced them, so it is certain. Second, the main practice has three: the essential point of the meaning of dharmata, the method and the essential point of the object of focus, and the essential point of the binding of the channels and winds. The first point has three: practice, transformation, and cutting. It is said that for those who find it very difficult, all three should be practiced; for those of medium ability, two should be practiced; and for those who find it easy, any one is sufficient. However, when giving instructions, because all must be practiced, in actual practice, all must be practiced. First, the practice of dream practice is: during the day, transform all appearances into the dream you dreamed last night with clear aspiration, and when practicing the non-reality of external objects, look inward at the awareness that is practicing, and nakedly and clearly meditate on the nature of appearance, without root, without basis. Everything is without reliance, without reality, without basis, and cannot be identified.
