Concluding remarks. Ordinary beings who have not seen this gateway, if they practice the Dharma, can attain liberation by holding the illusory body, practicing non-reality, and contemplating pure lands, as stated in their respective practice manuals. Those who are not accustomed to practicing the Dharma will make aspirations to be reborn in pure lands, take refuge in the Three Jewels, and avoid entering bad wombs, choosing good ones instead. The "Golden Garland" states: "In the mere part of delusion's existence, self-appearance appears as without self-nature. Having recognized that self-appearance is without self-nature, one is liberated from one's own continuum by remembering the emanation." Second, the detailed explanation has twenty aspects: the manner of wandering, the meaning of the term, characteristics, clairvoyance, magical powers, lifespan, color, the posture of the head, the difference between karma being accumulated or not, signs of karma, categories of names, size of the body, identification of the place of birth, differences in conduct, intensity of light, differences in karmic connections, the relationship between the future body and afflictions, the difference of belonging to which of the three realms, signs of entering the womb in the future, and illustrating with close examples. First, the difference in the manner of wandering is: those who have not seen this gateway, or even if they have seen it, do not believe or practice it, the bardo of dharmata is short, and because they do not recognize self-appearance, they repeatedly wander in the bardo of existence. Although there is no body of flesh and blood, due to the habitual clinging to the body from before, there arises an appearance as if the senses are complete and the flesh is undamaged, like a dream body. Therefore, it is said: "The previously existing body of existence, complete with senses and unobstructed, is seen by those with pure divine eyes of the same kind. Irreversible, that is a gandharva." This is said in terms of a part. If flesh and blood and senses truly existed, it would become a real existence that has already taken a body, which contradicts the statement of being in the bardo. Therefore, because it is separated from the gross body of the elements, it is called the mind-made body; because it relies on the part of the four elements' seeds and is close to entering a body, it is also called the illusory body. Because there is no ground, it is driven by karma and wanders everywhere. Second, the meaning of the term is: because the appearance of dharmata has ceased, and it is the appearance between not truly obtaining a body of the six realms, it is called "bardo" (intermediate state). "Do" refers to the middle state that connects the two. Some say that "existence" is a

Some may be reborn as gods. Some may be reborn as asuras. Some may be reborn in the lower realms. Some may be liberated, hence it is called 'existence,' which is the bardo. The third is the characteristics: For the duration of the bardo, the first half is the appearance of the previous state, while the latter half is the body, clothes, ornaments, etc., of where one will be reborn, like the characteristics in a dream. That is, if one is to be reborn as a god or human, it takes on that form. If one is reborn in the form realm, one thinks that initially it is a body of light. When ascending to the formless realm, since there is no form, no appearance arises, but it arises from the appearance of clear space. When transferring from the formless realm to a lower realm, the first half is just the clarity of samadhi, nothing other than the appearance of self-arisen samadhi. The latter half shows the appearance of where one will be reborn. The appearances of asuras and the three lower realms will appear. If one is reborn in Avici hell, there is no bardo because it is direct. Similarly, going directly upwards, or because one has mastered transference, wherever one is reborn is direct, so the bardo does not appear. Others practice the path in the bardo. The fourth is direct perception: The habitual tendencies of the direct perception of the dharmata bardo are latent here, and by its power, one knows the extent, height, measure, arising, abiding, decay, and destruction of the container and contents of the world one previously inhabited, and the characteristics of the container and contents of the place where one will be reborn, all in an instant, like seeing reflections in a mirror. Therefore, one is reborn in the place where one desires and longs for the future. Seeing the land of the goddesses, one is reborn there due to attachment. Seeing the beautiful forests, lakes, and islands of asuras and animals, one is reborn in those places. The places of hell and pretas are also seen as beautiful and attractive appearances of bright rays of fire, and one thinks of going there and is reborn. In short, wherever one is reborn, one sees that place as beautiful and joyful, or one sees it as a refuge from being chased by enemies, and one takes rebirth with a moment of attachment to hiding there. That is, all beings reborn in the desire realm are reborn because of the arising of strong desire in the mind, and the great joy and suffering towards objects. If one is reborn in the form realm, one is disgusted with gross appearances and experiences joy and suffering towards light. If one is reborn in the formless realm, one has no joy or suffering towards any appearance, and one is reborn with joy in just abiding in a mind of nothingness. The appearance of the container and contents is also
