One is deluded by the ground! One is deluded by clinging to signs and characteristics with the highest intellect! One is deluded by not knowing anything with the most perfect intellect, but by the appearance of impartiality or ignorance! All the ways of delusion are contained in these twenty-one, so it is very important not to be deluded in the bardo. Among them, it is very important to recognize the ordinary outer appearances and the parts of clear light, nakedly and individually, in the moment when they naturally appear. Moreover, in the Self-Arisen it says: 'Alas! Listen, close attendants! Sentient beings are deluded in the bardo in this way. Some are deluded by appearance, some are deluded by experience, some are deluded by what immediately follows, some are deluded by the object of focus, some are deluded by the thought of "what is it?", some are deluded by the thinker, some are deluded by the realm, some are deluded by the absence of realm, some are deluded by the essence, some are deluded by ignorance, some are deluded by conditions, some are deluded by speculation, some are deluded by the self, some are deluded by not knowing, some are deluded by clinging, some are deluded by non-clinging, some are deluded by concepts, some are deluded by causes, some are deluded by moments, some are deluded by signs, some are deluded by impartiality.' Because sentient beings in the bardo have twenty-one minds, appearance will be complete in one way of delusion, so in each way of delusion, one appearance will arise. This is the detailed explanation of the ways of delusion in the bardo. Second, regarding the way of liberation, it does not go beyond the order of twenty faculties, and it does not go beyond the three types of superior, intermediate, and inferior. Among them, the superior faculty is liberated in three moments, the intermediate in five, and the inferior in seven to twenty-one. The lowest faculty cannot be liberated from birth in the realm of the self-nature emanation body. The most superior perfect one is liberated in three moments in primordial purity, as it says in The Burning Body: 'Shooting stars streak across the sky, in the manner of flying, in three moments, together with the emanation body, self-nature dissolves into the essence.' So it says. The remaining six of the most superior are perfected by the three moments of completing the activity. The difference in faculties is that moments have long and short durations, and some take from one to six meditation days. The perfect one does not exceed the meditation day in the three moments of liberation.

Look there! That arises from the power of realization. The instant of liberation is when awareness dawns in appearance, and thinking it stays there, the duration of cognizing the object is counted as one instant, and liberation occurs in three instants. The intermediate and lowest instants are longer than that. Now I will explain the instant of completing the action. Third, the way to dispel confusion about the distinctions. Of the two, confusion and dispelling it, confusion about the parts is that because the tantras and instructions are extremely numerous, some say three instants, some say five, some say three days and nights, some say twenty-one, etc., without distinguishing them, they hold the day and night of meditation and the instant of liberation as one and explain them. Dispelling that has two aspects. The reasoning is: If those two were one, then the peak of the sharpest faculty, the dharma, would necessarily be liberated in one instant, because it is liberated in one day and night of meditation. If you accept that, then it contradicts the statement that the sharpest are liberated in three instants. Similarly, the lowest of the sharpest would necessarily be liberated in six instants, because it is liberated in six days and nights. If you accept that, then it is clear that all the sharpest are liberated in three instants. Moreover, even when liberated in primordial purity at the time of transference of consciousness, it is definitely three instants, because the first is recognition, the second is the arising of realization, and the third is liberation. The scriptural authority is: The Lamp of Wisdom says: "Therefore, the instant is distinguished by realization, the day and night of meditation is the part of abiding, in the distinction of having and not having qualities, they are mixed and similar, but unmixed and having qualities." This is clear. Here, the classification of instants in our own system is pervaded by the realization of knowing one's own nature, but the day and night of meditation is not pervaded by realization, because even without realization, there is abiding in the meditation of one's own nature, like the lowest of spontaneous accomplishment. Moreover, the instant is not pervaded by meditation, like liberation in primordial purity in the instant of realization. There is a pervasion related to meditation, like from the peak of the sharpest to the lowest. The day and night of meditation is not pervaded by the realization of the instant, like the lowest of the lowest is delusion. There is a pervasion related to the instant, like the intermediate and above of the intermediate and lowest. Therefore, it is very important to distinguish between the instant and the day and night of meditation. For the day and night of meditation, some think it is the current day and night, which is very unreasonable. Because there is scriptural authority
