There are two statements. It is considered the basis of the great primordial purity and the basis of various spontaneously accomplished things. Thus it is said. In the Six Spaces it says: "The essence is primordially pure, the nature is spontaneously accomplished." Thus it is said. In the Rosary of Pearls it says: "The essence is primordially pure, free from expression; the nature is spontaneously accomplished, complete in whatever appears." Thus it is. Secondly, refuting disputes about this is divided into two aspects: number and self-nature. The first has two aspects: dispute and response. The dispute is: the fault of becoming eight bases. The response is that primordial purity and spontaneous accomplishment are considered inseparable, and they are included in the seven bases, because we do not consider anything separate from them. Therefore, there is no fault of becoming eight bases. Furthermore, it does not contradict the statement that self-nature is pure from the beginning, because the essence is considered primordial purity, so it is related. Secondly, there are two aspects to the dispute and response regarding the inseparability of self-nature, primordial purity, and spontaneous accomplishment. First, recording the dispute: primordial purity and spontaneous accomplishment each have faults. If self-nature is primordially pure, since there has never been samsara, it is unreasonable for sentient beings to arise in confusion. Moreover, since nature is spontaneously accomplished, everyone would be effortlessly liberated from the beginning. And primordial purity and spontaneous accomplishment would be contradictory substances on the same basis. The answer is: since the essence is pure from the beginning, sentient beings do not have samsara, but it is not contradictory that the power or play of spontaneous accomplishment merely appears as such. Just as the self-nature of consciousness before falling asleep and during sleep has no dreams, but it is not contradictory that horses and cattle appear in the appearance. Moreover, the appearance as sentient beings is merely a play of illusion, because it is not established in the essence of meaning, so it is liberated from the beginning. In relative appearance, when horses and cattle appear due to the power of eye mantras, liberation occurs. By effortlessly leaving it in its own place, it naturally abides and returns to its own state like a child returning to its mother's lap. In the realm of reality, from the time of appearing to be liberated, appearing to return is merely returning, and there is nothing newly liberated, because bondage is not established. Moreover, appearance is spontaneously accomplished from the aspect of relative truth, and emptiness is primordially pure from the aspect of ultimate truth, merely expressed in words. Since these two are not different substances, they do not change separately. One essence has different aspects, just as a Brahmin is a human being, and possessing vows is an ordained person, these two are not contradictory. The responses to these disputes are also found in the Six Spaces: "The essence is primordially pure, so sentient beings should not have samsara, the impurity of ignorance."

Because it is primordially. The teacher said, "Great Bodhisattva," Because of the self-existing nature, That also appears unceasingly. The Bodhisattva himself also requested: "If the nature itself is spontaneously accomplished, then these sentient beings are naturally liberated." Because it is primordially spontaneously accomplished. The teacher said, "These sentient beings Because the essence is pure from the beginning, Liberated ones also appear as play." The Bodhisattva also requested: "Since the essence itself is pure from the beginning, Spontaneous accomplishment becomes unnecessary. Or, because of spontaneous accomplishment, Purity from the beginning ceases to exist." The teacher said about the way of abiding, "Since there are no words to express it, Since it is separated from the sound and words of expression, Since there is no essence of anything established, Words do not harm it." In the realm of sentient beings' self-grasping minds, Since various memories and thoughts do not cease, There is no difference between the harm of words and the essence. For the sake of ultimate and conventional terms." Thus it is said. The second meaning is to explain in detail the supreme basis, which has three parts: a general summary, a detailed explanation of each part, and a conclusion. The first is: The original basis, the essence, is pure from the beginning, like a flawless crystal ball, the self-existing nature that is not established as an object or characteristic, the subtle self-light within the white is deep and clear, but because there is no cause, it does not appear externally. Externally, like an unweaned child, like a vase, it abides in the state of the body. The essence is empty because it is pure from the beginning, and although there is no object, the subtle awareness, the self-light of the primordial radiance, is unceasing and natural. Because the nature is spontaneously accomplished, it abides as the basis of all appearances, but one's own face does not clearly appear externally as light, body, and color with characteristics and patterns. In the realm of the essence of primordial purity, the primordial radiance of the self-existing nature, the subtle self-light that is deep and clear, together with wisdom, In the manner of one, different, and not separate, the center of the spontaneously accomplished precious jewel of clear light, the field of the youthful vase body. The essence, nature, and compassion, the three self-natures, abide supremely. The essence is emptiness, so it is not established as an object or characteristic. The nature is clarity, so it does not abandon the self-face of the appearance of primordial radiance. Compassion is awareness, so the plan of knowing that expands into wisdom abides unceasingly. In the Great Tantra of Auspicious Beauty, it says: Buddhas of realization have not appeared.
