What is your realm? The realm of objects is like this: forms, sounds, smells, tastes, dharmas, tangible things, and the appearance of the four great elements, and the appearance of different entering conditions. The realm of emptiness is: all of emptiness itself, and being separated from all grasping consciousness. Non-realms are two: those that transcend limits, and those that transcend views. That which is called transcending limits is not grasping all things as self. That which is called transcending views is called inexpressible. Thus, these distinctions are not established from the very appearance of being real, like illusions and dreams. Their essence is empty and non-existent, merely a deceptive appearance of clear light. The very nature of mind, the essence of self-arisen wisdom, arises from ignorance, and is born as that which obscures the essence. When these illusions are cleared, it is called the manifestation of stainless clear light. Now, these natures generated by karma and afflictions rely on and abide in the very appearance of karma and afflictions themselves. Moreover, this relies on the improperly conceptualized pervasive thoughts, the six or seven aggregates of consciousness, together with the alaya consciousness. And that itself abides in the suchness of the self-arisen wisdom mind, the nature of complete purity. Because it does not abide in anything, it is called self-arisen wisdom. As it says in the Uttaratantra: "Earth abides in water, water in wind, wind abides in space. Space does not abide in wind and water, nor does it abide in the element of earth. Likewise, the aggregates, elements, and sense bases depend on karma and afflictions. Karma and afflictions constantly abide in improper attention. Improper attention abides in the purity of mind. The nature of mind, all dharmas, does not abide in anything." So it is said. Among these, karma is of three types: purely white, purely black, and mixed, or meritorious, non-meritorious, and unwavering karma. Meritorious karma, in this context, refers to virtuous actions that produce the fruit of happiness in samsara, such as the ten virtues, which are conducive to merit. Non-meritorious karma refers to the ten non-virtuous actions and the five heinous crimes, and so on. Unwavering karma refers to the karma that generates rebirth in the higher realms, because it produces its fruit without wavering. Afflictions are...

Six in number. As stated in the "Union of Sun and Moon": There are six afflictions: Ignorance is grasping at the aspect of the fundamental deluded thought. Stupidity is delusion from the aspect of wisdom. Hatred is delusion from the aspect of the generation stage. Pride is delusion from the aspect of views. Desire is delusion from the aspect of appearances. Jealousy is delusion from the aspect of non-understanding. These and so on, afflictions are the mind that follows thoughts, the intellect that follows memories, the conceptualization that is the basis of connecting habitual patterns and all doubts, and the aspect of grasping at objects and things, etc., are immeasurable. If differentiated, there are eighty-four thousand according to the order of conceptual assemblies. Desire, hatred, stupidity, and their equal parts each have twenty-one thousand. All of these arise from grasping at non-existence as self, like mistaking a mirage for water, similar to mistaking a rope for a snake. All containers and contents and afflictions are non-existent, merely appearing in the appearance of clear light. From the Garland of Pearls: Thus, various appearances, like seeing a snake on a rope, by grasping what is not that as that, the outer and inner containers and contents are formed. If examined, it is just a rope. The containers and contents are empty from the beginning, they are the form of ultimate and conventional. Seeing the snake is true because of seeing the snake. Seeing the rope is true as the correct seeing. For example, like birds dwelling in the heights, the nature of the two truths is merely worldly convention, it has no connection to the true reality. From the realm of emptiness, all its essence is liberated. As said before: The aggregates are like illusion and emanation. Thus, these realms of containers and contents, aggregates, etc., are called the Dharma of Samsara. Having known the nature, liberation from suffering, each entering into the pure essence, is entering into the ultimate truth. Here, in the Tantra of the Union of Sun and Moon, it says: All these are the sole cause of Samsara. In the Supreme Precious Treasury of Vehicles, it says: Differentiating the Dharma of Samsara, this is the third chapter. Fourth chapter: Differentiating the tenets of established philosophies. Having thus known the categories of the Dharma of deluded appearances, measuring them.
