Exists in... Thus, one hundred and eighty, are called the initial temporal kalpa. Thus, one hundred and eighty, are the intermediate second kalpa. Thus, adding up to that much, is one great kalpa. So it is said. These reasons and detailed determinations, as extensively explained in the 'Extensive Tantra of the Wish-Fulfilling Tree'. From the 'Supreme Mahayana Treasury Treatise'. What is shown is the container and content world, which is the second chapter. Third Chapter: Thoroughly Differentiating the Dharmas of Samsara. Having thus shown the order of the field to be tamed, the container, and the content, now, regarding the categories of the aggregates of dharmas, etc., that exist in the realms of these three vajra places, [I will explain] the differentiation. As it says in the 'Sun and Moon Union Tantra': "The realms and the aggregates, and the sense bases and the faculties, the objects and the object-possessors, how they abide, must be determined." The meaning of what is said here is fivefold: the differentiation of the realms of objects, the nature of the aggregates as support, the distinctions of the aspects of the sense bases, the essence of the grasping faculties, and the aspects of objects and object-possessors. First, because of the meaning of being numerous and vast, it is called a realm. If divided, there are two types: those encompassed by external objects and those encompassed by the internal mind. The first is the five elements, which generate and sustain form, and are the causes, conditions, support, and essence of destruction. That is, the characteristic of earth is solidity and stickiness, the characteristic of water is moisture and wetness, the characteristic of fire is heat and burning, the characteristic of wind is movement and lifting, and the characteristic of space is vastness and openness. These generate and hold the container and content. From that, the realms encompassed by external objects are five: the earth realm generates the basis of the body, therefore it is called a realm; the water realm holds its name, therefore it is called a realm; the fire realm ripens all objects, therefore it is called a realm; the wind realm supports all moving worlds, therefore it is called a realm; the space realm holds all the faculties, therefore it is called a realm. So it is said. The realms encompassed by the internal mind are two types: those that appear as the container and those that appear as the content. The container is what appears as an object due to the accumulation of karma. If divided, there are two types: external objects that arise from the delusion of mind, and internal mind that naturally arises from the power of awareness.

Firstly, the habitual imprints of perceived environments and mind are like dreams. They are categorized as: the realm of desire, such as the four continents; the realm of form, like the five lights, self-luminous like rainbows; and the formless realm, like self-emanating samadhi, invisible to others. As stated in the "Sun and Moon Conjunction Sutra": The realms encompassed by the inner mind are twofold: the vessel realm that holds sentient beings, and the realm that arises from the nature of mind itself. The vessel realm is: the realm of form arising from the vast memory of sentient beings, the formless realm arising from increased memory, and the realm of desire arising from memory that clings to distinctions. Secondly, the natural arising from the clarity and potential of the inner mind is as follows: Because there is awareness, there is the self-power of ignorance, the alaya, which obscures it, and the mind of alaya-vijnana, which relies on it, and the arising of mind and the five sense consciousnesses, like a palm tree growing on a golden ground, producing branches, flowers, and leaves. This is divided into three: object, sense consciousness, and feeling. Object refers to the consciousness that precedes the six consciousnesses in this context, and is designated as the object of the present moment. Therefore, it is referred to by the names of the six sense faculties. The sense faculties are understood by the term 'basis' such as the eye, etc., so consciousness is designated as the realm of the eye, etc., of which there are six. Sense consciousness refers to the six present consciousnesses of the eye, etc. Feeling refers to the future aspect, which is the six aspects. Whatever object the consciousness engages with, if there is a continuation of any of the preceding six consciousnesses, it is called an object. The moment it grasps its aspect, it is the present consciousness. After that, feeling any of the three: pleasure, pain, or neutrality, is called the feeling of contact. This is because the object and consciousness come together, and therefore feel its aspect. Thus, dividing the three sets of six into eighteen categories, as stated in the text: The realm arising from the nature of mind is: the eye realm arising from the self-luminous aspect of consciousness, the ear realm arising from the one-pointedness of consciousness, the nose realm arising from the infinity of consciousness, the tongue realm arising from the aggregation of all consciousnesses, the mind realm arising from the all-pervading activity of consciousness, and that which serves as the basis for all consciousnesses.
