All things that multiply from seeing, laughing, and touching walk without their four limbs touching the ground. Their food is the good fat of the earth, which tastes like honey, and they wear soft cotton-wood as clothing. During this time, the light also becomes dim and not very clear. Appearance and youth are also less beautiful than before. After a long time, some people stored the earth's fat as much as they wanted, storing it by days, months, and years. Everyone praised this as good and imitated it, and as a result, it declined. During that time, there was a long period of famine and darkness. Then, due to the common merit of beings, the appearance of the sun rising in the sky occurred. Because there was no saying of "this is near, this is far," the sun was known as the name of "benefiting nearby." Then, when it set, it was called night. Because of the wish for darkness to clear, the moon also rose in the same way. Because it is the companion of the sun, it is called the moon. At that time, the moon also rose fully and warmly at night. Most beings wished for it to become cool. Without warmth, it became cool. Again, some could not bear the suffering because it was too cold, and said, "May it not become colder than this." Therefore, the moon waxed and waned. At that time, rice that grew naturally without being plowed, growing in the fields in the morning when harvested in the morning, and growing in the evening when harvested in the evening, was used as food. When their bodies were full of radiance and strength, and they indulged in the desire for sensual union, some were ashamed of throwing sticks, clods, and stones. When they were supported by trees and stones, because of the rain of nectar, they covered it with thatch. The earliest houses were called thatched round houses. Later, because the rice fields were stored, the rice decreased and did not grow. An arrogant person said, "From now on, I am in charge," and divided the fields. Everyone did the same, and the fields of those with little merit could not grow because they were poor, so they stole from others. Afflictions, greed, hatred, ignorance, arrogance, and jealousy were all complete. Due to the power of karma, this also declined. During this time, a virtuous person divided and distributed the remaining rice into portions. Everyone was satisfied with their share and was enthroned as king.

Thus, there arose a king named 'Honored by Many.' Then, by plowing the mountains with wooden plows and sowing a few seeds, the earliest grain, millet, appeared. Later, large-scale farming was carried out, and countless villages, regions, and cities arose. In this Jambudvipa (the southern continent), which is about the size of a crow's wing, cities were filled, wealth increased, harvests were abundant, and the populace and people were numerous. Then, the description of how the lower realms were formed is as follows: They arose due to the accumulation of the karma of the three poisons based on human existence. In particular, the karma of anger was accumulated excessively, and initially, a being who was to be born as the lord of hell was born as Yama, the King of Death, in the Avici Hell. Then, among his retinue, due to the accumulation of karma, many birds, dogs, hell guards, and beings who actually experience the suffering of hell also appeared. Then, all eight hot hells, as well as the eight cold hells surrounding them, and the neighboring hells, also appeared. Then, due to the excessive karma of attachment, beings matured and were born as pretas (hungry ghosts); due to the excessive karma of ignorance, beings matured and were born as animals. The lifespans of these also vary. First, in the eight hot hells, the Samjiva Hell uses one day of the Four Great Kings as fifty years, thirty days as one month, and twelve months as one year, so that five hundred years is considered one day of the Samjiva Hell, and the lifespan is five hundred years. Similarly, one thousand years of the Thirty-three Gods is considered one day of the Kalasutra Hell, and the lifespan is one thousand years; two thousand years of the Yama Hell is considered one day of the Samghata Hell, and the lifespan is two thousand years; four thousand years of the Tushita Heaven is considered one day of the Raurava Hell, and the lifespan is four thousand years; eight thousand years of the Nirmanarati Heaven is considered one day of the Maha Raurava Hell, and the lifespan is eight thousand years; sixty-six thousand years of the Paranirmita-vasavartin Heaven is considered one day of the Tapana Hell, and the lifespan is sixty-six thousand years; the Pratapana Hell lasts for half an intermediate kalpa, and the Avici Hell lasts for one intermediate kalpa, so they experience prolonged suffering. There are also the Blister Hell, the Bursting Blister Hell, the Achu Hell, the Kyihud Hell, the So Tham Thama Hell, the Lotus-like Cracking Hell, the Utpala-like Cracking Hell, and the Great Lotus-like Cracking Hell.
