Knowing and establishing the basis, path, and fruit of Buddhahood allows for swift liberation from samsara. Other beings, hoping for enlightenment from the root of samsara, find it difficult to attain even after a long time, because the way of establishing the basis is flawed. The All-Good King of Samantabhadra's Mirror of Mind says: 'Those who seek Buddhahood from the mind deviate from me.' So it is said. The way of deviation is that it can be harmed by both reason and scripture. Thus, if one establishes the Buddha, the path, and the three bases from the mind, then the mind itself, which is the basis of establishment, possesses both the grasped and the grasper. Therefore, your basis, path, and fruit will all possess the grasped and the grasper. If you admit this, then Buddhahood will not be achieved, and even if it is achieved, it will be inverted, because it has not been liberated from the grasped and the grasper. Furthermore, just as the mind accumulates habits and various actions, so too will the basis, path, and fruit. If you admit this, then there is the fault of becoming confused. The opponent retorts: If there is no mind, then Buddhahood cannot be attained, and you also admit that those Buddhas are the result of the difference in intentional mind. The answer is: Buddhahood is not attained because of the absence or presence of mind, but because of the presence or absence of the wisdom of the Dharmakaya. Even if it is admitted that the purification of the mind's confusion differentiates the Buddhas, it is still not certain that it is the self-arisen Buddha of the basis, so it is not a true reality. Even if the object to be purified is purified, the object to be purified that is purified is not the Buddha, so the Buddha does not arise from the mind. Here, scripture can also harm. The common scripture, the Madhyamakavatara, also says: 'When the mind ceases, he manifests with the body.' And the uncommon scripture, the Vajrasekhara Sutra, also says: 'The purification of the five aggregates of consciousness is the nature of the five wisdoms.' And so on, explaining the transformation of the basis. If Buddhahood is achieved from the real mind, then the object to be purified and the transformation of the basis will become meaningless. The unsurpassed scripture, the Eighty-Sixth Chapter of the Rigpa Rangshar Tantra, in the chapter refuting all disputants, says: 'Some people think, they want to seek the fruit in the mind. To this there is the following refutation: What is the substance of the mind?' The detailed answer is: 'Because the mind has no substance.' 'Then what is the nature of the mind?' The detailed answer is: 'The mind has no substance.'

Because of this, how can the nature of reality have a grasper and a grasped? Like the nature of space, because there is no grasper and grasped. To this, a contradictory statement is made: Does the mind have a grasper and a grasped? A detailed answer is given as follows: Although the mind has a grasper and a grasped, the nature of reality does not have a grasper and a grasped. To this, a contradiction is also stated: Whose vow will be broken? Because the mind and the nature of reality are one. If a grasper and a grasped arise in the mind, then effort will not attain Buddhahood. Because the mind has a grasper and a grasped. The answer is reversed and stated: If the absence of mind is Buddhahood, how do you attain it? To this, a detailed answer is given: Do not seek the fruit in the mind, because various things arise from the mind. The mind is the place where habits are accumulated, because attachment tends towards objects. The mind is the root of samsara, the mind is the order of abandonment. Why does it exist in the mind? The mind is the root of delusion, everything arises from it, because it deviates from the common ground. The mind is shown to be defiled, because there is conceptual thought. The mind is like a bird's feather, because there is no mind. Then a contradictory statement is made: Then how do you want to understand the nature of mind? Then a detailed answer is given: Do not desire fruit in the mind, because there is awareness wisdom. Then this awareness itself, how many kinds of nature does it have? Then answer like this, the nature of awareness wisdom is emptiness, clarity, and pervasiveness. Thus it is said. If awareness acts as a basis, acts as a path, and acts as a fruit, then will awareness itself not become a characterized thing? It will not become, because there is no emptiness, clarity, and grasping. Again, it is said in it, awareness is clear in itself. If it exists clearly, will it not become a characterized thing? Because it is beautiful with clarity. To this, answer like this, it will not become a characterized thing, because there is no attachment to it. It should also be understood like this, like the mandala of the sun, although it is clear, it does not fall to any side. Why? Because there is no desire. Thus it is said. Second, the detailed explanation of the respective nature is divided into two parts: the detailed explanation of the nature of mind and wisdom.
