For example, holding onto an object of perception is like a hook. From that, it says: For example, just as a holding hook, holds whatever appears from the nose, these two noses of samsara and nirvana, are held by this. Thus it is said. Ninth, regarding measure, there are three. The measure of the lasso of assembled elements is the complete arising and gathering of the object of perception. The measure of wisdom is seeing the continuous string of pearls. The measure of assembled essences is distinguishing the specific appearances of forms. From that very text: The meaning of the lamp making things visible, the appearance of the object of form, and also awareness, is the measure of the appearance of a continuous string of pearls. Thus it is said. Second, regarding the lamp of the empty bindu, there are also twelve aspects: essence, definition, divisions, characteristics, location, gate, nature, object of perception, measure, the actual lamp, the method of practicing it, and analogy. First, the essence is: the bindu surrounded by the sphere of five lights, is self-luminous and clear in color. From 'The Blazing Lamp': The lamp of the empty bindu, is the place of trust for all phenomena. Whoever knows this, enjoys the body of the bindu, and obtains the field of practice of habitual patterns. Therefore, the essence of this is, unique, without minute parts, free from elaboration, free from the edge of emptiness, greatly self-luminous, its nature is self-luminous equality, non-conceptual, free from elaboration, abiding in a circular form, uncreated, self-empowered, because the ground is complete, red, self-luminous, primordially pure, without impurities and primordially pure, free from self-grasping, bondage, afflictions, etc., self-luminous by itself, empty in essence. This is considered to be its essence. Thus it is said. Second, the definition is: because the self-abiding sphere of light does not change, it is 'bindu' (ཐིག, Devanagari: बिन्दु, Romanized: bindu, literal meaning: point); because it pervades and expands into the object, it is 'pervading' (ལེ, Devanagari: ले, Romanized: le, literal meaning: take); because things cannot be grasped, it is 'emptiness' (སྟོང་པ, Devanagari: शून्यता, Romanized: shunyata, literal meaning: empty); because the self-light of emptiness blazes with five lights, it is 'lamp'. From that very text: Bindu is the unchanging straightness, primordially free from fabrication. Pervading is the great expanse, in which all appearances are complete in their own place. Emptiness is the grasping of things, which obstructs the minds attached to objects. By the great emptiness of self-nature, clearly, the mind of self-attachment does not appear. The lamp makes the five lights visible, thereby possessing self-awareness and clear knowing. These are the definitive words. Thus it is said. From 'The Pearl Rosary': For example, like the eye of a peacock feather, bindu is without change, pervading is pervasive and appears in the object, emptiness is without the characteristic of things,

Lamps transform darkness into light. Thus it is said. Third, the divisions are five: The abiding ground bindu, in the heart's jewel casket of wisdom, is the crossroads of all samsara and nirvana, or the source, or the end. The body-abiding nadi bindu, in the four great special nadis, is self-liberated and primordially liberated from pleasure and pain due to its self-illumination. The conventional cause bindu, in the roma and other nadis, is the sustainer of the body's nutrients. The ultimate non-elaboration bindu, since awareness is pure from the beginning, abides in the state of exhaustion of dharmadhatu awareness. The self-arisen fruit bindu, since it appears in the manifestation of the senses, day and night luminosity merges, and it engages in the vast, completely liberated state of the Buddhas' realization. From "The Blazing Lamp": The divisions themselves are fivefold. The ground-abiding self-awareness bindu, unifies samsara and nirvana into one. The body-abiding nadi bindu, unifies happiness and suffering into one. The conventional cause bindu, is the cause and condition for generating the aggregates and mind, unifies the aggregates, elements, etc. into one. The ultimate non-elaboration bindu, unifies dharmadhatu and awareness into one. The self-arisen fruit bindu, all the realizations of the Buddhas, are unified into the dharmadhatu free from effort and accomplishment. All of this is its division, from the unchanging empty bindu, the objects of appearance have five aspects, it is clear in the place of unification. Thus it is said. Fourth, the characteristic is: When moonless emptiness arises in the realm of the senses, it abides in the unmeditated, continuous stream of samadhi. From that itself: One's own characteristic essence is emptiness, attachment to whatever manifestly ceases, self is the unchanging non-conceptuality, unmeditated and without interruption, the bindu is moonless, in the great self-abiding realization, it continuously abides without action. The characteristic is that emptiness pervades with clarity. Thus it is said. Fifth, the place is: the four great special nadis, in the great kati golden nadi, the good ground bindu naturally abides. Like white silk thread, the good path bindu enters the lamp. When it is thin and entwined, the good tip bindu is clear as self-arisen. In the crystal tube, the bindu endowed with good ornaments appears as luminosity. Again, from that itself: In the center of the bodies of all sentient beings, the precious citta
