Namo. Relying on this, the four lamps such as the lamp of empty thigle, the lamp of self-arisen wisdom, and the lamp of pure Dharmadhatu arise. As it is said in the Garland of Pearls: "The path of going is the door of manifestation, Itself, two on the right, two on the left, and in the center, Abides in the manner of a burning lamp. The lamp of empty thigle, And the lamp of pure Dharmadhatu, And the very self-arisen wisdom, And the lamp of the distant net of water, Appear in the field of what is seen." And as it is said in Rangshar: "The four lamps are as follows: The lamp of empty thigle, And the lamp of awareness Dharmadhatu, And the lamp of self-arisen wisdom, And the lamps of the distant net of water, Abide in all sentient beings." Moreover, the four lamps mature from the purification of the four elements of ultimate truth. When karmic winds are purified, and from the aspect of the winds of wisdom, the four, such as the distant net, arise. The appearance of the great, such as mountains and houses, as the small support of the distant net, arises from the subtlety of the aspect of the winds. Moreover, the actual distant net holds the appearance of wisdom by the purification of the light channels, and by its support, the appearance of delusion is seen. That is, the support and the supported. Those who possess wisdom should analyze and realize the two aspects. Moreover, the four lamps are different from the deluded appearances and deluded minds of samsara, because they hold the past aspect. This key point is very important. In the future, if there are those who know the difference between these two, then they should recognize it as my key point. The lamp of empty thigle is a round thigle with a circumference of five lights, which arises from the aspect of the purification of karmic winds. From this arise the lamp of self-arisen wisdom and the lamp of pure Dharmadhatu. Wisdom has three aspects: essence, ability, and radiance. The essence is: from the key point of the way of seeing the distant net, when focusing on the lamp of empty thigle, the inner awareness is experienced as clear, bright, and self-illuminating. The ability is: externally, the wisdom of knowing the object clearly is sharp and quick, and the meaning of words arises spontaneously. The radiance is the appearance of the vajra chain, like a golden thread floating. If these are not distinguished, sometimes knowledge is labeled as the lamp of self-arisen wisdom, sometimes it is labeled as inner radiance, and sometimes as the chain.

Attached (concepts) only serve to confuse. The lamp of the Dharmadhatu has two aspects, outer and inner. The outer is that in the center of the pure sky, a bluish light radiance first appears. The inner appears as if originating from that (blue radiance), the radiance of the five lights appearing clearly in five colors. That is to say, the Dharmadhatu is outer and inner. The outer is grasping at the cloudless sky. The inner is the pure Dharmadhatu lamp. So it is said. Regarding this, some identify the outer as merely the cloudless sky, which is highly unreasonable, because the sky is not connected to a person, and the lamp follows the presence or absence of a person. Here, the blue radiance of the inner sky appearing outwardly is called the outer Dharmadhatu. Therefore, the sky is merely a place for understanding and planning, not the actual Dharmadhatu. The actual is dark blue, the inner Dharmadhatu within the Dharmadhatu. Thus, it appears that the appearance arises from that Dharmadhatu, and although these two are separately called outer Dharmadhatu and inner Dharmadhatu, it should be understood that this is merely transforming what is unclear in the rainbow light tent into something clear. It is not like the inner facing oneself and the outer facing others, but rather it should be understood as the outer and inner appearing from that (Dharmadhatu). The appearance as five lights is also the naturally luminous radiance of the mind's nature, which is purified of the impurities of objects, the impurities of intellectual wisdom, and the impurities of negative thoughts of the mind. The lamp refers to, when seeing the appearance, from the perspective of dispelling the darkness of karma and habitual tendencies. Among them, the first of the four lamps is the essence gathered from the four chakras. The initial generative wind propels (the essence) from above into the mother's womb, so it is called “རྒྱང་” (Tibetan, no corresponding Sanskrit, no corresponding Roman transliteration, distance), symbolizing entering the essence of cause and condition in the mother's womb from afar. By remembering, the four, wind, mind, cause, and condition, are gathered into one and bound, therefore it is called “ཞགས་” (Tibetan, no corresponding Sanskrit, no corresponding Roman transliteration, rope). Among the various tastes, it increases through the pleasure of the six tastes and expands the eye of essence, therefore it is called “ཆུའི་” (Tibetan, no corresponding Sanskrit, no corresponding Roman transliteration, water). At the apex, there is a clear realization of the distinctions of the actions of the five senses and the distinctions of the five wisdoms, and the Dharmata directly appears on the objects of the senses. In order to dispel the darkness of samsara, it is therefore called a lamp. From the lamp of the empty bindu, when combined with the bindu of conventional cause, the bindu is the essence that increases due to posture.
