A thief appeared. Gathering all of these, one person appeared. From that and so on, countless armies appeared. Those and so on, confused immeasurably. Because that arises from the ground of non-confusion, it is formed into what is called "existence." The forms of sentient beings appeared in inconceivable numbers. The path of confusion and thoughts, also, just as the discriminations that are thought, discriminations arose, so it is said. Among them, Vajrasattva is awareness. The vast place is the original ground. The place endowed with beauty is the door of manifestation of the spontaneously accomplished ground appearance. The time of dusk is the appearance of the ground of confusion because of appearing as other than oneself due to one's own ignorance. The year of the pig is when ignorance is actually imputed. The day of the snake is the part where the discrimination of grasping the appearance of objects coarsely is clear. The star bird is when attachment to objects arises as desire. The old woman is when the knowledge of ignorance dawns as grasping at confusion. The uncertain bone is that the ground appearance appears anywhere, and both liberation and confusion are common ground, and from that it is called confusion. The four companions are the four conditions. The five wild men are the five poisons. The one person as a support is the mind of imputation. The one thief is anger. The one person who gathers everything is the confused appearance that becomes one. That is also the mind, which is the grasper of the confused appearance. From that, many afflictions arise, which are the armies. Thus, that confusion initially arises from the primordially pure, without a ground of samsara and nirvana, the originally pure, therefore it is called "existence." Secondly, to symbolically explain both confusion and liberation through stories. Again, from Self-Arisen: "Listen, you who are pure in space! The measure of the Buddhas' intention should be grasped by these." In the past, in a place called Vast Place, there was a teacher called Radiating Light. He had two brothers, and it is said that a friend was imprisoned in an empty place, which is Yacha. Then, five soldiers appeared and destroyed it from the top of the stone castle, which is Yacha. The two sons were thrown into a pit, and it is said that a blind old woman closed the door, which is Yacha. Then, four people chased and caught them, and it is said that five people were separated from their horses, which is Yacha. The two sons escaped on their own and killed the prison guard, which is Yacha. The two sons fled to a place with rain and sun and became subjects.

After collecting taxes, the twenty-one consorts deliberated and fled to the temple of Samdhug (བསམ་རྡུགས།). Five people put on five sets of armor and guarded the gate, saying that no one could enter, yacha! Then, looking with four mirrors, they said they recognized themselves, yacha! Then, seeing a house with eight doors, they said they laughed at themselves, yacha! In this way, all the forms of symbols are used to combine with the meaning of wisdom. That is to say, the teacher emitting light is self-born wisdom. The two sons are the wisdom of rigpa kadak (觉性本净) and lhundrup (任运). The friend being imprisoned is the confusion of lhundrup's appearance with the wisdom of mother and child, bound to samsara by ignorance. The five people destroying the top of the castle with stones is the five poisons causing rigpa to deviate from its own state and fall into delusion. The two sons being locked out by the old woman is rigpa falling into the abyss of samsara, being closed off by ignorance, and not being allowed to escape. The four people seizing the five people and separating the five from the horse is the four wisdoms purifying the five afflictions' conceptual thoughts along with their winds. The four wisdoms are: the wisdom of liberation liberating afflictions, the wisdom of gathering gathering wisdom, the wisdom of discernment distinguishing between afflictions and wisdom, and the wisdom of activity causing them to move into the dharmadhatu. The two sons escaping and killing the jailer is self-awareness recognizing itself, and the obscurations or binding actions and afflictive conceptual thoughts naturally liberating and leaving no trace. The two sons fleeing to the sun and collecting taxes is rigpa entering the eye and looking at the appearance of dharmadhatu rigpa, the five senses overwhelming everything, and various experiences naturally arising and gathering. The consorts deliberating and fleeing to the temple, and the five people putting on armor and guarding, symbolizes the twenty-one recognitions of rigpa's wisdom, and the meaning of the spontaneous cessation of conceptual proliferation arising within when meditating on self-appearance. In general, this comes from abiding in the bindu surrounded by five lights without moving, so that thoughts cannot find an opening. Looking with four mirrors and recognizing oneself is the meaning of self-awareness abiding in its own place arising within by looking at the wisdom of the four lamps. Seeing a house with eight doors and bursting into laughter is seeing the appearance of lhundrup.
