All these are confusedly arisen from a basis that is not anything. That basis, its essence is emptiness, its nature is luminosity, it possesses compassion, and it is capable of appearing to sentient beings. To that, the consciousness that grasps, arising from the aspect of ignorance, a slight trembling occurs. Merely from the arising of the consciousness that thinks, "Did I arise from that dark consciousness? Or did that arise from me?" there is confusion. That ignorance is not on the basis, but is on the experience or phenomenon. From the phenomenon, four types of conditions arise. That is, the basis exists in the form of a web of light, from which arises the condition called "causal condition," which is actual ignorance. By engaging in conceptual analysis of that, the condition called "dominant condition" arises. By grasping that as an object, the condition called "objective condition" arises, like the appearance of a person's face in a mirror. Since these three occur simultaneously, it is called the "immediately preceding condition." It is itself the basis, but it does not recognize itself, and by being confused, the three realms of samsara are established. From that, the afflictions become coarse, and the forms of sentient beings become different. It is said that there is confusion from such a basis. That is, when the basis appears, a discriminating consciousness arises. Due to the ignorance of not recognizing its own nature, which is the same as the cause, and the impurity of the objects of the four conditions, there is confusion. These ways are from "Auspicious and Beautiful." That is, confusion occurs through the four conditions, and ultimately it also comes down to the four conditions. From the condition of grasping the cause as having an object, there is confusion that it is the cause of various fruits. From the condition of grasping the dominant condition as having an object, there is confusion that it has various names. From the condition of grasping the objective condition as having intelligence, there is confusion that it is unrelated to the fruit. From the condition of grasping the immediately preceding condition as having grasping, there is confusion that appearances are diverse. This is the great way of confusion of the basis of secret mantra. That is, in the way of appearing, the condition of ignorance itself appears together with karma. That ignorance also, together with the five root afflictions, gathers many conceptual aggregates. It possesses thousands of conditions, possesses many ways of appearing, and is pervaded by ways of appearing. That is, from the unceasing appearance of the state of the spontaneously accomplished jewel box, the basis does not change, but the appearance changes, following many objects, and discriminating everything. Although the appearance of the Dharmakaya does not change, in the confused appearance, there appears to be a phenomenon that seems to be changing.

Although Vajrasattva has no delusion, he demonstrates the manner of delusion for sentient beings. Ultimately, it is to revert one's own appearance to the basis of its own conditions. Because one does not know that the non-dual appearance is self-arisen, one clings to delusion as the master, becoming the condition of the master. Because one does not know that the fruit of self-awareness is self-arisen, one clings to the cause as dependent, becoming the condition of the cause. Because one does not know that objects and consciousness are empty, one clings to the object as an object, becoming the condition of the object's own face. Because one relies on time, one does not know that light is self-originated. Because consciousness arises that grasps what is not that as that, it is said to be the immediately preceding condition. Furthermore, the initial cause of delusion is the three ignorances. Merely not recognizing one's own face, because grasping and apprehended have not arisen, it is said that there is no actual delusion, but that has become delusion. Like something without a name becoming named, this is the ignorance of the single entity of the cause itself. Merely not recognizing that, turning back, it becomes co-emergent ignorance, which becomes the appearance of both samsara and nirvana. Thus, for the object of light, mentally dividing it into merely dualistic appearances, it becomes the part that clings to name and meaning as real, so it is called imputed ignorance. For such a cause, there are four conditions. The condition of the cause is made by the aggregation of the three ignorances, like a person with form and limbs naturally developing a disease. From that, the condition of the object appears on the external object like a mirror, and because there is a face on it, the condition is like appearing in the mirror. The object of the object appears outward from its own light, thus, the condition of the master is like grasping the mirror, the face, and the self as three real entities, like thinking of the face and the mirror, along with thinking of light, awareness, and dharmata as three, so it is called the condition of the master. Thus, the cause is the three ignorances, and the conditions are three simultaneous, so it is the immediately preceding condition, which is the actual arising of delusion. Those four conditions, when it is a person, because the cause is the same in Buddha and sentient beings, it is recognized as the wisdom beyond abandonment and adoption, therefore, the condition of the cause is liberated in its own place. Appearing as various objects, it is the self-appearance of dharmata that is liberated, therefore, the condition of the object, the various different objects, are liberated in their own place. That also appears and is liberated in the self-originated wisdom, therefore, the condition of the master is liberated in its own place. Because time has no certainty, time
