As the self-nature of obstruction. Because self-nature is spontaneously perfect, although it abides as the basis of all appearances, in order to outwardly reveal itself, the light, body, and colors with characteristics and categories do not appear. In the space of the essence of primordial purity, there is the self-sounding, clear, subtle self-light and wisdom of spontaneously perfect self-nature. In the manner of one, different, and not different, the radiant and luminous, precious, spontaneously perfect treasure-womb, the field of the youthful vase body. The essence, self-nature, and compassion, the three self-natures, abide supremely. Because the essence is emptiness, things and characteristics are not established. Because self-nature is clear, the self-face of the manifestation of self-sounding is not abandoned. Because of compassionate awareness, the basis of knowledge expanding into wisdom abides uninterruptedly. In the Great Tantra of Auspicious Splendor, it is said: Before the enlightened Buddha appeared, and before the unenlightened sentient beings appeared, the self-born wisdom of awareness did not move from the basis, and abided simultaneously with the three appearances without conditions. Then, again, the very wisdom of awareness itself spoke of this reality of its own way of abiding. Alas! This vast and expansive space of appearance is the great, immovable Dharmakaya, abiding in the unerring Great Buddha. The essence body abides uninterruptedly, the essence is unchanging, the means are secret, unmoving, unmoving, unmoving, all appearances are perfected at once, all wisdoms are perfected in an instant, all bodies abide in maturity, all appearances of light are clear without obscuration. In the appearance of reality, not obscured by the way of appearance, the essence, self-nature, and compassion, the three are uninterrupted, completely perfect. That great reality of essence also abides like a body, but the appearance of mouth, eyes, and ears does not abide at all. It abides like emptiness, but it does not abide at all like inert emptiness. It appears greatly like five lights, but it does not abide at all when divided into colors. It appears continuously, but it does not abide at all like a connection. It is regarded as boundless, but it does not abide at all when regarded in one direction. It appears as if not stained by parts, but it does not abide at all when divided into categories. It appears like uninterrupted adornment, and although it is highly elevated, there is nothing that appears above or below. The appearance of self-nature is: it appears like vastness without partiality, it appears like clarity without substance,

As it appears to me, without distinction; as it appears white, without clinging to categories; as it appears yellow, with perfect qualities; as it appears red, with wisdom unceasing; as it appears green, with perfect qualities; abiding in the fivefold nature, without clinging to color, the great one; in roundness, without form; in unceasingness, without conditions; in non-pervasiveness, the great self-radiance; in self-luminosity, with inner and outer; in effortless accomplishment, spontaneously accomplished. The appearance of compassion is: in appearing as emptiness, luminosity unceasing; in the absence of elaboration, great elaboration; in the unceasing nature, the great manifold uncertainty; in luminosity, without darkness; in unceasingness, the great absence; in spontaneous emptiness, the great universal arising; in non-mixture, the great complete appearance; in pervading all, the great unified gathering; in purity, the great unceasing confusion; in perfection, the great single appearance. Compassion abides without ceasing wisdom, so it is said. In the Transference it says: The initial essence, nature, and compassion abide in three aspects. That also, because the essence abides as the body, the rain of Dharma, enjoyment, and emanation, the manner of non-separation and non-distinction, even in the nature of spontaneous accomplishment, body color and so on are not objects of mind. The nature is the manner of arising light, white, red, yellow, green, and blue are not characteristics with marks, but the spontaneous accomplishment of wisdom without categories. From the various appearances of compassion, there is no certainty that these are one and the same, therefore, because of the various appearances, it is called the basis. So it is said. That also, if measured from the reverse aspect of the original purity of essence, nothing is established, therefore, in the aspect of external luminosity, although light and body color and so on are not established as having categories, in the realm of its spontaneously accomplished nature, the five lights of primordial radiance appear as body, rays, and bindus, the very subtle nature. Because it swirls in the realm, in the inner luminosity, there exists subtle wisdom. That also, if one cuts off to the side of the mere aspect of original purity, what is the aspect of the arising of body and wisdom? On the basis, there is nothing whatsoever of original purity. If one thinks it arises from that realm, does it exist or not? If it does not exist, it should not arise, just as a non-existent thing should not arise from a thing. If it exists, it contradicts the assertion that there is nothing whatsoever. Therefore, the nature of original purity is spontaneous accomplishment, and in the inner luminosity of that realm, there exists subtle wisdom, primordial radiance, and the subtle appearance of clear light.
