One obtains the clinging to self. The experience of clarity and non-conceptual awareness is called the samadhi of the Sambhogakaya. When the uncontaminated, empty essence of the bindu body arises spontaneously without effort, it is the samadhi of the Dharmakaya, which the yogi can obtain. Thus it is. Secondly, the experience and signs of the great thunderbolt descent are: Because appearances are mastered as illusion, there is no attachment to anything. Because awareness emerges nakedly, realization is supremely clear. Because intention is mixed with the nature of reality, even without meditation, one abides in the self-nature of non-conceptual samadhi. Because wisdom arises spontaneously, the expanse of words and meanings is burst open. As it says in the tantra itself: The samadhi of the great thunderbolt descent, whoever becomes familiar with this, obtains mastery over all appearances. The method of arranging its sequence is: Whatever object one wishes to meditate on, make all of these the object of the mind. When the conditions and thoughts of the object arise spontaneously, if one knows that all of these are without self-nature, then all appearances are like illusion, or like dreams and reflections. The experience of the great non-conceptual reflection, in whose continuum it arises, then all appearances are like a thunderbolt descent, the conditions of appearance do not appear on the object, and one obtains irreversible samadhi. Thus it is. Thirdly, the experience and signs of great expansion are: By restraining the posture and gaze, appearances arise as clear light, and thus one abides in the nature of reality day and night. Its stages of meditation and signs are as follows: From the Sixth Space: The samadhi of great expansion, whoever wishes to meditate on it, in order to seize the key of immutability, by restraining the posture of the body, casts awareness into the expanse of the sky. Likewise, the eyes look into space, with the gaze of an elephant, one abides in the mindless great expansion. Thus, entrusting awareness to the sky, without separating from this, whatever the yogi continuously meditates on, during the day, appearances are of great expansion. At night, in one's own dwelling, in order to measure the equality of the four times, by gathering all the doors of the senses, on the lamp of the empty bindu, the yogi places the mind, and as the bindu itself increases, awareness itself is also directed to increase. Likewise, when the bindu becomes small, the bindu becomes smaller and smaller, and awareness is also placed smaller and smaller. Through the key of sleep and dreams, the habitual tendencies of previous clinging are rooted out.

spring forth from within. Like this, during all the times of the night, the yogi should practice with a heart endowed with good fortune. This will cause appearances to naturally increase. Thus it is said. These are the measures of familiarity with practice. As for the measure of reaching the end of stability, it is said in the tantra itself: The measure of the samadhi of abiding in one's own place, unwavering, is measured by not being harmed by the enemies of the elements. Likewise, the measure of the samadhi like a lightning strike, the afflictions such as desire, will never arise in one's own continuum, and unwholesome thoughts will not arise. This is how to measure its measure. The measure of the great expansive samadhi is measured by the cessation of coarse appearances. Thus it is said. These are extremely important points. Third, the subsequent instructions, the signs and measures of the key points, are twofold: instructing to recognize and determining the measure. The first is what is said in "Self-Arisen": Alas! Son of lineage, recognize the awareness without mind! Recognize the wisdom free from mind! Recognize the body free from breath! Recognize the self-liberation free from grasping! Recognize the luminosity free from concepts! Recognize the primordial sound free from arising! Recognize the awareness that transcends habitual patterns! Recognize the causeless result! Recognize the self-sound free from time! Recognize the sentient being without a Buddha! Recognize the mandala of self-arisen power! The second is, in the tantra itself, it says: Take the measure of no birth as no death; take the measure of no cessation as appearing in various ways; take the measure of no change as profound; take the measure of vastness as without beginning, end, or middle; take the measure of contemplation as non-distraction; take the measure of samadhi as without abandoning or taking; take the measure of uncorrectedness as without fault; take the measure of taking realization as the path as without arising or ceasing; take the measure of the instruction being imprinted as the exhaustion of appearances. The third meaning, determining the three times, from the categories of signs and measures, there are three: determining the signs and measures of the past, present, and future. The first also has the signs of having trained in body, speech, and mind in previous lives, which are now present in the body, appearing in speech, and arising in the mind, in three ways. The first is that in previous lives, one trained one's own body, speech, and mind.
