It is said that the nature of the past cannot be accomplished. The way to cut off those mistakes is: Although there is no mistake or non-mistake in the nature of awareness, the difference between knowing and not knowing when practicing it causes mistakes or non-mistakes, so it shows how to cut off mistakes. Among the three, view, meditation, and action, if you view emptiness as nothing in view, you will fall into nihilism; if you meditate on nothing in a daze, you will fall into the formless realm. If you become attached to the appearance of light, you will fall into permanence; if you meditate on clarity as cut off from the lineage, you will fall into the four meditations of the form realm. If you cling to emptiness and form as real things of purification and liberation, you will have grasping and clinging. If you meditate in this state, you will fall into desire. As it says in the Jeweled Array: "In the constant yoga of view, there are three kinds of mistakes. If you look at emptiness, you will fall into the four formless realms. If you look at reality, you will fall into the seventeen abodes of the form realm, and you will fall into a state of rigidity. If you look at the appearance of a continuous thread as permanent, and you are bound by great attachment, you will fall into the six realms." Therefore, without clinging and attachment to the appearance of light, the mistakes can be cut off naturally. As for the mistakes in meditation, if you fall into thoughtless stupor, you will fall into one-pointed quiescence, so it is important to recognize the clear and naked awareness of awareness. If you separate the clear and distinct appearances and meditate, you will fall into clinging and partiality, so you must get rid of the attachment of clinging. If you meditate on emptiness that blocks arising feelings, you will fall into infinite emptiness, so do not block appearances. It is important to directly recognize the various phenomena that arise in the present without following the past. Again, as it says in the same text: "In the constant yoga of meditation, there are three kinds of mistakes. If you meditate on equanimity and selflessness, you will become drowsy and fall into dark appearances. If you meditate on the syllables of samadhi, you will fall into the realm of samsara because of attachment. If you meditate on non-thought emptiness, you will fall into infinite attachment." Therefore, in action, if you do not take non-attachment as the basis for liberation, and you act arbitrarily on any appearance, you will fall into the Asura realm like a madman, so it is important to liberate the appearance directly. If you cling to words and act, you will fall into the view of the perishable aggregate, so it is important not to be bound by views, meditation, and sects. Although there is no clinging to names and meanings for appearances like a child, if you act on them as objects of attachment, it will become unpredicted.
