I, that is, since there is no before or after in the arising and liberation, it arises in the nature of the self-purification of dharmata. As it is said in the "Six Spaces": In the mind-essence of the appearance of the six aggregates, the aggregates of thoughts are completely pure; in the mind-essence of the appearance of sound and words, the terms and names are completely pure; in the mind-essence of the appearance in its own place, the conditions of the four elements are pure in their own place; in the mind-essence of the appearance of grasping and being grasped, the self-grasping of bondage is completely pure. Thus it is. At this time, that person is called one who has transcended the Dharma, that is, one who is free from all attachments to the faults and merits of samsara and nirvana. These are the stages of practice shown by those with minds focused on objects, for the sake of those who delight in the elaboration of meaning. Now, to show the stages of practice for those with minds focused on self-arising awareness, there are two: how it surpasses the common, and the actual instruction of the essential advice. The first is that it surpasses the common by seven key points: because of realizing awareness as direct seeing, there is no sharpness or dullness of the senses; because seeing with the senses of dharmata, there is no great or smallness of wisdom; because of realizing the self-face of the natural state, there is no seeing the dharmata of words; because there is no acceptance or rejection or effort, there is no old or young in age; because self-awareness is without impurity, there is no good or bad in karma; because dharmata transcends the completion of thought, there is no dependence on the ground and path of view and meditation; because the result is primordial purity, the three kayas arise as the path, and there is no turning back in the three realms. The first is from the "Uttaratantra": By the key point of the direct perception of dharmata, one realizes that there is no good or bad in karma; by the definitive collection of the heart essence, there is no sharpness or dullness in the senses; because the limit of mental judgment and words is exhausted, it is not wisdom but the senses that see; because dharmata is not seen by words, the common vehicle does not accomplish the goal; because the three kayas are the path, seeing this does not reverse the three realms; because all dharmas are equal in one taste, the ground, path, and result are not dependent. Thus it is. The second has two parts: refuting the connection of the instructions, and explaining the instructions themselves that have a connection. The first is of two types: Trekchö and Tögal, as it is said in the "Tantra of Introducing the Face": The measure of effortless self-liberation, Trekchö and Tögal are distinguished as boundaries. And in the "Self-Arisen Perfection": Trekchö and Tögal are self-abiding. Thus it is.

Furthermore, Trekchö is the key for sharp faculties to attain Buddhahood without meditating lazily, by taking naked awareness into experience without relying on appearances, naturally liberated on the path of no effort. Tögal is liberation with effort, relying on the appearance of clear light, so that diligent ones purify into a solid rainbow body in this very life and attain Buddhahood. As the "String of Pearls" says: "According to the differences in beings' minds, how should the stages be explained? Natural liberation is without effort; it should be taken into experience with effort. Those without effort are self-purified." Thus it is. Secondly, explaining the instruction itself that has connection. Although there are very many ways to apply Trekchö, here, following the great master Shri Singha of China, the meaning is shown in three aspects: Exhausting all phenomena into the great primordial purity; blocking the unobstructed, naked state of freedom from activity; binding the complete liberation into great equanimity. The first is: All phenomena included in samsara and nirvana are decided to be primordially enlightened in the expanse of the great perfection equal to space, so now there is no need to make any effort or activity. Thus, all the diverse external appearances, all the objects of appearance, the environment and beings, are empty of truth in appearance, and are already liberated in the eight examples of illusion. Moreover, illusion is boundless and baseless, merely an appearance, never having existed, never having disappeared, never having been true, never having been false. The baseless, scattered state abides in primordial Buddhahood, so there are no objects of focus for what to accept or reject. The inner appearance as the dharma of one's own mind is also not established as an object of arising, ceasing, and abiding, so it transcends the limits of grasping at an entity. Because for this mind, there is not even a particle of dharma to be seen or meditated upon, one does not focus on dharma to be practiced or attained. Since the awareness of self-nature is like space, it is not necessary to bind it with the fetters of accepting and rejecting antidotes. Now it is self-Buddha, self-purified scattered, naturally let go, without interval, primordial Buddha. Without the defilement of fabrication, it is all-pervasive, exhausting into the great nameless bliss of samsara and nirvana, primordially enlightened in the realization of the complete liberation of the three realms, so it has not moved from the meaning of clear and vast space. No matter how appearances are established, they have not moved from the state of awareness, just as the magical displays of the four elements have not moved from the expanse of space, one should understand the meaning of being primordially exhausted. As the Sixth Expanse says: "Emptiness has no elaboration of objects."
