That's all. Thus it is said. Second, identifying the nature of the occasion: Among these, here, seven should be practiced. A person with faith should first please the lama, and then sit comfortably on a cushion in a secluded place. Sitting in the lotus position, focus the mind on the white syllable ཨཱཿ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: A). Visualize a white ཨཱཿ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: A) at the tip of your nose, and when the breath goes out, the ཨཱཿ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: A) also goes out far away. When the breath comes in, the ཨཱཿ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: A) comes back as a white, round sphere to the tip of the nose, and meditate by prolonging this without letting the mind wander. If the body feels too hot, then think of the ཨཱཿ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: āḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: A) as a cold touch. If it feels too cold, then think of it as a warm touch. By doing this, an experience of being unborn and free from thought arises. If you are not satisfied with that, then focus the mind on the fierce syllable ཕཊ (Tibetan: ཕཊ, Devanagari: फट्, Romanized Sanskrit: phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: Phat) that dispels obstacles. Keep the body as before, and for a moment, let the awareness wander, and then by uttering a fierce ཕཊ (Tibetan: ཕཊ, Devanagari: फट्, Romanized Sanskrit: phaṭ, Literal Chinese meaning: Phat), the awareness becomes clear and a non-conceptual state arises, recognize that as wisdom, and by practicing day and night, an experience of self-purification arises. If you are not satisfied with that, then focus the mind on the laughter of the wrathful deity, relax the body as before, and utter a fierce and short ཧ་, and clear and non-conceptual wisdom arises. Also, whenever the mind is disturbed by afflictions, or the body and mind are uncomfortable, this method can eliminate them. At this time, an experience that is free from identifying the nature of reality arises. If you are not satisfied with that, then focus the mind on the fighting of the Asuras, sit on the top of a mountain, a rock, or the roof of a house, sit in a squatting position, and first slowly rotate the head, and then rotate it as fast as possible. Move the body as well, and after practicing for three or four days, after a while, these external appearances will turn into a red, bloody mess, then they will turn into a bright yellow, then they will turn into a mixed blue, then they will turn into a gray ash, then they will turn into a fresh and clear state, and then the external appearances will cease, and they will not exist in any form. Then, it is impossible not to have the experience of seeing appearances dissolving into their own place. At this time, one should rely on foods that are beneficial for the wind element, and entrust awareness to the syllable རཾ (Tibetan: རཾ, Devanagari: रं, Romanized Sanskrit: raṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Ram) at the navel. If you are not satisfied with that, then focus the mind on chasing away conceptual thoughts with ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum), mix the long, toned ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) with the breath, and sometimes also make it short,

When a samadhi that does not contemplate anything arises, the experience of thoughts appearing as dharmata arises. If you do not believe in this, then focusing the mind on gradual emptiness is to dissect this body with your own wisdom, destroying it with various names and so on. Even if it is just a head, the skin, hair, flesh, ears, nose, tongue, etc., are divided into atoms and examined, just as the name "head" cannot be established. By destroying everything, nothing is found, and one is stunned, the body becomes empty, and in that state, one cultivates the experience of the arising of non-conceptual wisdom. If you do not believe in this, then focusing the mind on sudden emptiness is to entrust awareness to the state where everything that appears before the eyes disappears into emptiness. When this is mastered, first there is appearance, second there is emptiness, and third, the mind naturally abides in the undivided dharmata. Therefore, in the case of meditation that relies on the body, it is essential that the movement of the body does not cease. During the time of speech, it is important to place awareness in the ears and not lose the expression of speech. During the time of mental meditation, it is essential that the mind does not wander from the object of focus and that the breath is slow. These are profound key points for the sudden arising of experience. Fourth, the intention of the Sugata has two aspects: essence and division. The essence is meditation that transcends session breaks, like the sky. As it says in Rangshar: "The intention of the Tathagata should be known as the expanse of the sky." The division is: by leaving it uncorrected and naturally, the arising feelings cease without an antidote, and by not meditating, one attains meditation through natural inclination. As it says in Nyi Da Kha Jor: "The intention of the Sugata has two aspects: by leaving it uncorrected, the arising feelings cease; by looking without meditating, one attains the warmth." If such meditation is given a name, it is called the meditation of the union of day and night, day being a part of nirvana and night being a part of samsara. At this time, the meditative experience is that there is no clear appearance during the day and no unclear appearance during the night, but it passes quickly. Therefore, the key to the "ocean stilling method" in the oral instructions is to meditate without blinking or moving. This is because the nature of the eyes is water, so by keeping the ocean clear, it can be stilled. Whatever you meditate on, keep your eyes as they are; if you don't meditate, don't meditate; when you meditate...
