The sword symbolizes pure discipline, and is also a weapon to cut off the knot of stinginess, as well as a symbol of never being tired of maturing sentient beings. Possessing these can cut off the vines of samsara. The six excellent key instructions are: Although all beings are inherently Buddhas, in order to liberate sentient beings, one should extensively accumulate the two accumulations. Although one knows that Buddha-fields are like space, one should diligently practice purifying the land, incomparably. One should never be tired of maturing sentient beings, and should not abandon the nature of the meaning of selflessness. One should perform various transformations with supernormal powers, and abide immovably in the nature of the Dharma realm. One should not abandon the mind of Bodhicitta, and should cause the arising of the wisdom of omniscience. One should satisfy all with the wheel of Dharma, and should not transcend the realm of Dharma-nature. Those who possess these will attain the state of Sugata. Knowing and abandoning the six actions of Mara are: being discouraged for the sake of others, having confused thoughts, being satisfied with small achievements, being unable to endure more, doubting the Dharma, abandoning the supreme Dharma, not maturing sentient beings, only seeking one's own liberation, being afraid of samsara oneself, abandoning great actions, not specifically seeking aspirations, only wanting to pacify afflictions. These are the actions of Mara, and should be abandoned far away. The six signs of being blessed by the superiors are: generating the supreme mind of unsurpassed perfect Bodhi, knowing the various actions of Mara and reversing them, diligently listening to the Mahayana Dharma, being tireless in samsara for the sake of others, not being attached to the teachings of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, even if one has realized the meaning, one should diligently practice, those who enter the supreme Dharma of the Buddha's sons are these actions. The six Maras of those who wish to teach the Dharma are: not giving the Dharma to those who have not taken refuge is Mara, discriminating against qualified disciples is Mara, teaching the Dharma for the sake of wealth is Mara, teaching profound Dharma to those who are not qualified is Mara, teaching Hinayana to those who like Mahayana is Mara, not teaching what they like, teaching biased Dharma is Mara. Do not be deceived by these, cherish them very much. The six evil Maras that disciples should abandon are: abandoning the virtuous friend and associating with evil friends, being separated from the guide, being controlled by Mara. Abandoning Mahayana and listening to Hinayana is:
