There is no clinging. For a person with a bad nature, the Dharma has no clinging. For a person without gratitude, beneficial help has no clinging. The six aspects that show the decline of the Dharma are: If you do not see afflictions as enemies from within, then the Guru's instructions from without will decline. If you do not abandon the activities of this life, then the time to accomplish practice will decline. If you do not abandon the fear of suffering from the trivialities of old age, then the sacred Dharma of diligent effort from the heart will decline. If you do not generate certainty within yourself, then devotion to the Dharma and the Guru will decline. If you do not abandon the sinful and unwholesome actions of samsara, then the compassionate guidance of the Noble Ones will decline. If you do not abandon clinging to one-sided right and wrong, then the unbiased instructions will decline. The six things that are frustrating and laughable are: The trivialities of a dwelling, where one has no control over whether to stay or not, are frustrating and laughable. The hoarding of wealth, where one has no control over whether to use it or not, is frustrating and laughable. The labor of clothing, where one has no control over whether to wear it or not, is frustrating and laughable. The preparation of food, where one has no control over whether to eat it or not, is frustrating and laughable. The faults of friends, where one has no control over whether to associate with them or not, are frustrating and laughable. The indulgence of children, where one has no control over whether to give to them or not, is frustrating and laughable. Once you see the deceptive actions of the world, there are very many things that are frustrating and laughable. Explaining the six necessary things: Worldly activities must be abandoned no matter what, and the darkness of ignorance must be dispelled no matter what. The fortress of grasping and clinging must be destroyed no matter what, and the qualities of experience and realization must be increased no matter what. The wisdom of union must arise no matter what, and the jewels of the three bodies must be attained no matter what. Explaining the six regrettable things: Even though one has been ordained for many years, it is regrettable that one does not know the vows of protection, permission, and prohibition! Even though one has entered the Dharma gate for many years, it is regrettable that one must now learn about virtue and non-virtue! Even though one has entered the Great Vehicle for many years, it is regrettable that one does not approach the methods of cultivating Bodhicitta! Even though one has studied and contemplated for many years, it is regrettable that one does not turn one's mind towards practice! Even though one has meditated for many years, it is regrettable that one has not generated warmth signs and qualities! Even though one has understood the view for many years, it is regrettable that

Do not be deluded by illusions, ya re cha! These were initially built as fortifications for castles, Laying the foundation from the very beginning is truly wonderful. After examining, it feels ridiculous; after contemplating, it feels weary, Rely on the holy ones and practice listening, contemplating, and meditating. The six key points that indicate the nature of reality are: Without examining or analyzing, see your own face for yourself. Without thinking or modifying, samsara is liberated from its root. Without cutting or breaking, appearances naturally dissolve into their own place. Without seeking or cultivating, the five kayas are spontaneously accomplished. Without abandoning or adopting, transcend the extremes of faults and virtues. Without doing or striving, activities are spontaneously accomplished. Whoever knows this is skilled in the essence of the heart. The six instructions of a wise spiritual friend are: Being skilled in generating faith in those without faith, Being skilled in teaching what to adopt and abandon, Being skilled in grasping the key points through practice, Being skilled in protecting from obstacles and hindrances, Being skilled in teaching the oral transmission of union, Being skilled in transforming adverse conditions into the path. The nature of relying on the six reasons is: Just as one relies on a doctor for ordinary illnesses, To eliminate the illness of samsara, one should rely on a lama. Just as one relies on a guide in a dangerous passage, For refuge in the bardo, one should rely on a lama. Just as one relies on elders for advice, For ultimate advice, one should rely on a lama. Just as one relies on a lord out of fear of misfortune, To pacify adverse conditions, one should rely on a lama. Just as a boatman relies on a skilled helmsman, To cross the ocean of suffering, one should rely on a lama. Just as a merchant relies on a navigator of the ocean, To accomplish enlightenment, one should rely on a lama. Indicating the categories of the six comparisons: Look at the pain and torment of present illness, Consider whether you can endure the suffering of the three lower realms. Look at the efforts of those imprisoned to escape, Consider whether you are destroying yourself in the prison of samsara. Look at the efforts to obtain food and clothing in this life, Consider whether the ultimate agriculture is now being neglected. Look at the faults of a bad friend who is only with you for a short time, Consider whether you can endure associating with unbearable beings. Look at the caution taken at an ordinary cliff, Consider the suffering of falling into the cliff of the lower realms. Look at the grief of the death of a spouse in this life, Consider the nature of being separated from the ultimate Dharma friend. Thinking in this way, one can cross to the other shore of existence. The six instructions for practice are: In the space of the sky
