Must be possessed. To be able to distinguish well between Dharma and non-Dharma, one needs wisdom like the beak of a swan. If one possesses these six, one is in accordance with all the sacred Dharma. The six dharmas needed for the best of yogis are: View must be like a king, taking hold of the land. Conduct must be like a minister, knowing the time. Guarding vows must be like a gatekeeper, able to withstand conditions. Wisdom must be like a servant, pervading all. Conceptual thoughts must be like clouds, naturally dissolving. Qualities must be like a treasury, having everything. If one possesses these, both aims are spontaneously accomplished. The six sacred Dharmas for accomplishing goodness are: If you want to be a lordly king, encourage yourself in the Dharma. If you want to be a heroic king, vanquish the army of afflictions. If you want to be a sovereign king, follow the Buddha's teachings and the Sangha's decisions. If you want to be a powerful king, subdue the demon of self-grasping. If you want to be a wealthy king, accumulate the two accumulations of merit and wisdom. If you want to be a physician king, eliminate the chronic disease of your own faults. If you understand in this way, you will become the lord of gods and humans. The six dharmas for being wary of enemies are: When renunciation and faith arise in the Dharma, the affection and advice of relatives and friends rise as enemies. When abandoning all worldly activities, attachment and clinging rise as one's own enemies. When practicing Dharma, giving food and wealth in charity, jealousy and arrogance rise as enemies. When taking the profound instructions to heart, doubt and hesitation rise as enemies. When the signs of increasing warmth of experience arise, attachment, excitement, and fixation rise as enemies. When opening the doors to various qualities, pride, arrogance, and self-importance rise as enemies. It is crucial to be wary of the enemies that arise. Loving-kindness and patience are the best armor for meditation. Giving six names to a Dharma practitioner: If one's own head emerges into the Dharma, one is powerful. If one engages the three doors in virtue, one is faithful. If one is without deceit, trickery, and fraud, one is good. If one knows the wrong path as wrong, one is intelligent. If one spends one's life in the Dharma, one is scriptural. If one has great compassion and altruism, one is Mahayana. One should learn the conduct of the holy ones. The six dharmas for liberation from the ocean of suffering are: Having obtained the rare human body and encountered the Dharma, having met a qualified lama and gained devotion, having abandoned worldly activities and being without busyness, the profound

Those who hold compassion have no obscurations of delusion. Those who act virtuously transcend birth and death and have no laziness. Those who have spontaneously accomplished great bliss are free from grasping. If you have these six, suffering cannot arise. The teachings on the six kinds of awareness are: If you are bored in solitude and cannot stay alone, Know that you have no practice of mind-holding, etc. If you do not know how to associate with many people, Know that you are unskilled in methods and have a bad nature. Even if you rely on a lama, if you do not abandon what is not Dharma, Know that you have not received his blessings and qualities. If you are arrogant, untamed, and have great pride, Know that you disregard experience and have not realized the true nature. If you are lazy with small teachings, Know that you will not attain liberation and will wander in samsara. If you prioritize your own benefit and have no compassion, Know that you have no Mahayana path and no bodhicitta. By relying on signs, understanding the inner state, You should abandon engaging in the wrong path of non-Dharma. The enumeration of the six kinds of wasted things is: Not fearing the lower realms, doing evil deeds, etc., Wasting the difficult-to-find leisure and endowment of human life. Having entered the door of Dharma, creating partisanship, attachment, and hatred, Wasting the faith in the true meaning. Holding the pride of hearing and thinking words like a stone, Wasting the wisdom of realizing the true nature. Having put aside the practice of profound secret mantra, Wasting meaningless diligence and asceticism. Having abandoned the supreme wisdom of union and non-duality, Wasting the meditation of clinging to appearance and emptiness. Having abandoned the solitary place on the mountainside, the place of accomplishing Dharma, Wasting the accomplishment of visiting villages and monasteries. Therefore, cherish not letting these become a wrong path. The six dharmas of following in the footsteps of the predecessors are: If you want to completely cut off the roots of sins, obscurations, and habitual tendencies, Look at the nature of mind, which is naturally free from a basis. If you want to find the wish-fulfilling jewel of needs and desires, Continuously exert effort on the profound path. If you want to realize the dharmata of the meaning of the true nature, Look at the nature that is not found by searching, but is left as it is. If you want to apply the practice of the teachings to your mindstream, First tame your own mind, and then practice. If you want to genuinely practice the sacred Dharma properly from the heart, Give up attachment to this life, and cut off the ties of clinging. If you want to quickly follow in the footsteps of the predecessors, Look at their actions and make practice the essence. These are the essential pith instructions. The six dharmas that are inconsistent with common behavior are: One's own nine kinds of evil deeds
