I am full of longing and enthusiasm. By meditating in this way, one enters the realm of wisdom and awareness. The six dharmas that possess the vessel of good fortune are: With sincere reverence, whatever is done will not turn away from faith. Faith in the Dharma makes one refrain from the cause and effect of good and evil. Purity of vows makes one have great affection for one's Dharma brothers and sisters. Mingling with the Dharma makes one cherish virtuous deeds. Great antidotes dissolve evil circumstances in their own place. Finding joy makes one strive in meditation and practice. It is said that this is the supreme vessel for the precious and sacred Dharma. The six dharmas of the small meaning of a bad vessel are taught: Even if you meditate for a long time, your own mind will not be liberated. Even if you stay in a monastery, you are like a meaningless wild animal. Even if you know the scriptures, you have not become an antidote. Even if you are very learned, you are like a meaningless parrot. Even if you rely on a lama, you have not received the instructions. Like a thirsty person wasting away on the shore of a lost ocean. Even if you have instructions, they have not entered your mind. Like holding meaningless medical texts. Even if you have obtained warmth signs, you have not realized the nature of mind. Like a meditator entering the path of the Tirthikas (non-Buddhists). Even if you endure hardships, you have not generated qualities. Like a futile attempt to sweep a cave in a meadow. Therefore, it is very important to make everything meaningful. The six signs of a supreme lama are taught: When relying on him, you feel comfortable and your mind goes to the Dharma, This is a sign that the blessings of practice are like a cloud. If the disciples are led to practice and possess many qualities, This is a sign of having profound oral transmissions and great instructions. There is no jealousy when losing retinue and possessions, This is a sign that attachment and desire for worldly appearances have ceased. If you know how to integrate any intelligence into the path, This is a sign of having skillful means and compassion to benefit beings. If you extensively help those who are suffering, This is a sign that immeasurable bodhicitta and compassion have matured. If you are broad-minded, have peace of mind, and are free from activities, This is a sign of having confidence in realizing the nature of reality. Seek and rely on such a lama who possesses these signs. The six signs to abandon for Dharma practitioners are: If you are attached to worldly affairs, there is a sign of attachment and aversion. If everything you do is seen as hatred, there is a sign of arising wrong views. If you cherish illusory appearances, there is a sign of diminishing virtuous deeds. If you accumulate possessions in your homeland, there is a sign of turning away from the Dharma. If you strive for this life, there is a sign of obstacles and demons. If you have no certainty about the Dharma, there is a sign of losing the path to liberation. The nature of abandoning the six faults is: Not honoring the lama who is the refuge of this life and the next, With pleasing close friends

It is extremely wrong to be lax and indulgent. It is extremely wrong not to recite the root of accomplishment, but to speak meaningless empty words. It is extremely wrong not to accumulate the seven noble riches such as faith, but to accumulate wealth, the root of suffering. It is wrong not to meditate on the true nature of mind itself. It is wrong to engage in distracting and chaotic activities. It is wrong to pursue arrogance and pride in profit and fame without subduing the ego-grasping, the source of evil. It is wrong not to study and contemplate to dispel the darkness of ignorance, but to engage in self-righteous, dark, and foolish meditation. Abandoning mistakes brings the path to liberation closer. The six instructions that strike the key point are: Do not fall into a waterless ditch, rely on a wise and virtuous guru. Abandon evil and inferior deeds that are the basis for going astray. Do not associate with people who initiate evil deeds. Do not argue about meaningless words that are thorns of distraction in meditation. When seizing the crucial moment, abandon unnecessary tasks at any time. Because accomplishments become distant, do not cultivate other deities. Because attachment to food and drink increases, live according to whatever comes your way. By doing so, virtuous conduct increases. The six faults of following a bad teacher are: The disciple who follows a bad spiritual friend is led by evil views to the extremes of permanence and annihilation. Led by evil conduct to non-virtuous and evil paths. Led by evil signs to anger and violence. Led by evil meditation to delusional habits. Led by evil practice to be bound to worldly dharmas. Led by evil results to fall into samsara and the lower realms. Therefore, for those who have faith and seek the path to liberation, a bad teacher is the greatest obstacle and demon. Therefore, one should examine and thoroughly abandon them. The six things that lead to bad conduct by associating with bad friends are: Associating with ignorant children leads to trivial matters. Associating with young people leads to playful behavior. Associating with householders leads to farming and profit. Associating with merchants leads to accumulating wealth. Associating with angry people leads to cruel behavior. Associating with relatives and friends leads to seeking food, clothing, and shelter. Therefore, abandon bad friends and rely on good and virtuous friends. The six faults of relying on a bad family are: Even if impermanence arises in the mind, laziness will take away practice. Even if faith and wisdom are complete, one cannot find opportunities to practice. Even if one knows that this life is meaningless, one cannot let go of the world.
