It is not right to think like that. Because for the true meaning, clinging to both the establishment of truth and the mere negation are just mental constructs. Nothing is established in the nature of Dharma, because it abides in the equality of appearance and emptiness, so these two, appearance and emptiness, should not abandon one and cling to the other as supreme. This is the meaning of what was said above. In addition, there are many profound meanings, and those with wisdom should analyze them carefully. When speaking of the indivisibility of truth, it is necessary to mix in the difference, but there is no mixing in one and many, that is its meaning. The so-called separation or non-separation also means that after the first mixing, then separation, or first there are two separately, and then mixing, if it is based on such a situation. It will not mix into one, because adventitious stains and luminosity are inherently present. It will not mix into many, because the characteristics are inconsistent. Therefore, the meaning of the exhaustion of the nature of the difference between the two dharmas is the meaning of no difference at all. The meaning of "conventional like a water moon, its nature is emptiness, which is the ultimate truth," etc., is also the commonly recognized indivisibility of truth. Also, samsara and nirvana are merely appearances, and their essence is also without self-nature, so they are inseparable. If it is thought that in the ultimate truth, both are not established, so there is no object of distinction, then this is called being confused and ignorant about the meaning of the unsurpassed vehicle. As it is said, it is not appropriate to cling to the mere similarity of no self-nature, and the nihilistic view of emptiness and nothingness, and think that it is the completion of the meaning of the indivisibility of truth. The reason for this is that it is said in the 《སྡེ་སྤར་མ།》: "When appearing, there is no difference, but it is unreasonable to have no difference when appearing." And "If samsara and nirvana appear without difference, then no self-nature is also different." Although it is recorded like this, in the old and pure copy in the hands of my lama, it is recorded as: "When appearing, there is distinction, but it is unreasonable to have no difference when appearing." And "If samsara and nirvana appear with distinction, then no self-nature is also different." These seem to be correct. In order to specifically refute those who think that in the conventional, samsara and nirvana appear as two, their essence is without self-nature, and it is merely non-different, and think that it is non-different, and think that in the ultimate truth, both are not established, so there is no object of distinction. Therefore, it is said that when appearing, there is distinction, but it is unreasonable to have no difference when appearing.

Even if it needs to be proven, if words are forcibly added, although it can barely make a story, it is difficult to clearly understand its meaning. If it is thought that samsara and nirvana appear without difference, then the absence of inherent existence is also merely the existence of difference, which is very inappropriate. Therefore, here, "difference" is changed to "non-difference," but because the arguer has not thoroughly understood its deep meaning, this seems to be a wrong modification. Generally speaking, in this regard, from the perspective of understanding, in name, samsara and nirvana are merely different in appearance, but in reality, merely relying on the negation of the non-establishment of inherent existence, one cannot realize the great non-difference of samsara and nirvana. The great non-difference of samsara and nirvana refers to the fact that inherent existence is primordially unestablished and cannot be refuted, which itself constitutes the nature or reality of all phenomena, and this is called the great nirvana. Its meaning transcends the realm of thought, and it is not the nirvana that separates the duality of samsara and nirvana. Therefore, if we examine the distinction from the aspect of appearance, and the non-difference from the aspect of emptiness, then when samsara and nirvana appear, it is unreasonable to say that there is no difference when they clearly appear as distinct, just as it is unreasonable to say that there is no difference between a pillar and a pot when they clearly appear as distinct. If it is thought that there is no difference merely because the emptiness is the same, that is not correct. If samsara and nirvana appear with difference, then the emptiness or absence of inherent existence related to the different appearances must also be different, just like the object on the pillar and the object on the pot. If it is thought that there is no difference merely because of similarity, then all phenomena are the same as knowable objects, so they will become a single entity with no difference in inherent existence, which is actually admitting the assertion of the naked heretics. Therefore, the emptiness that merely grasps the aspect of the non-establishment of inherent existence is neither samsara nor nirvana, nor is it the nature or ultimate reality of both, because it falls into the trap of empty words. This refutation itself is the same, because no one would admit that samsara and nirvana are non-different merely in appearance. If it is thought that this is not the case, it is also inappropriate, because samsara and nirvana, as the duality of appearing separately, are fundamentally unestablished in the ultimate sense. Since dualistic appearance does not exist, then the so-called individual dharma nature, which is the object established by conceptual thought, also does not exist at all, therefore it is said that the undifferentiated truth is beyond the realm of thought. This is not a nominal term.
