Regarding the meaning of "not right to be mistaken or not mistaken." If the many are one, then perceiving Lhas-byin as Lhas-byin is not mistaken; perceiving Lhas-byin as offering is mistaken, which is not right, because the two are one. Like that and so on. In the view of the Lokayata (Carvaka), there is no past or future life, because body and mind are the same substance, etc., the meaning of which is explained in sequence by the body dissolving into atoms, etc. Here, "at this time, possessing two" refers to the argument established by the Lokayata to prove that there is no afterlife. That is, hoping to establish it through sophistry, so it is said like this: A pot, as the subject, possesses two, either a person not coming from the afterlife, or any pot, because it is a non-utpala (utpala, 青莲花) object. Like a wall with a pot. Or, for the case where the subject, reason, and example are similar, it can be combined like this: possessing two, the body of a person whose body and mind are the same substance and any pot. Whichever of these two cases, the meaning is the same. Because it is not possible to directly state the argument proving that there is no afterlife, in order to prove that the pot is the body of a person whose body and mind are the same substance, or possessing two of a person not coming from the afterlife, non-utpala (utpala, 青莲花) is established as the reason, and it is thought like this: The pervasion of non-utpala (utpala, 青莲花) is established on the pot. For example, when the pot is placed next to the wall, the pervasion of possessing any two is established on the wall, because the wall is a non-utpala (utpala, 青莲花) object, and it also possesses two of the pot. In this way, the subject pot at this time cannot be the pot's own possessing two or companion, because the companion mentioned at this time can only be a person not coming from the afterlife, or possessing two of a person whose body and mind are the same substance, so it is hoped to be established through sophistry. If something is an object, then the pervasion of possessing two of another object is generally present. Because objects are not only one, but many are possible, so anything that is an object can be regarded as possessing two, just to the extent that it can be counted as itself and another. Therefore, even if it is a non-utpala (utpala, 青莲花) object, it is only possessing two, which is based on this and thought about. In verbal expression, because the word "person" is placed as a word assistant, it is two.

If one wants to understand it as "having two," then there is no choice but to establish "the having-two of a person." And if it is said that this person does not come from the other world, or that they possess the nature of body and mind being one substance, then in reality, this person does not come from the other world, or body and mind are one substance, there is no mind before the body, and there is no mind after the body is destroyed, thus it is thought that there is no past or future life. Moreover, if one merely says that such a "having-two of a person" is singular, then fearing that one cannot show concomitance in the example, one uses "the having-two of a vase and any one" as a expedient. Such a false mark, because it cannot establish the intended meaning, is of no use whatsoever, and in the dharma being spoken, it only produces faults like the incoherent ramblings of a madman, with no benefit whatsoever. Generally, because things are many, the mere fact that anything is "having two" is already established and does not need to be proven. According to the context of the statement, it is definitely not "the having-two of any one," because it is neither "the having-two of a vase" nor "the having-two of a suddenly appearing person." Because "the having-two of a vase" contradicts the vase itself, and "a suddenly appearing person" is like a rabbit's horn, because the basis is not established, it is contradictory to say that it is "having two." Therefore, in the example, even if "having two" is generally present on the wall, because the "having-two" that is intended here does not exist at all, it is of no use whatsoever. If one thinks that it is permissible to not distinguish between the body and the vase and to consider these two as a common generality, that is not permissible, because "not any one of the body and the vase" has no other meaning whatsoever. Then, if one says, "Sound is the subject, it is impermanent, because it is produced, like a vase," then, in the example and the subject, the commonly existing "produced" and "impermanence" do not exist, so is it not established? It is not like that, because merely impermanence, without distinguishing between sound and vase, can be established, because sound and vase are not different in that they are impermanent, so impermanence exists on both. But, if saying "any one of the body and the vase" has another meaning, just as the vase has impermanence, then "any one of the body and the vase" must also exist, but that is impossible. Therefore, setting up such a mark is meaningless. As it says in the Pramāṇavārttika: "Saying empty of what is said, is corrupted by not knowing this and that."
