If it arises when the vase exists, then the vase is already formed, so it is not appropriate to arise. If it arises when it does not exist, then it is impossible for something to arise from nothing, because it is a material contradiction. The fourth is that only the knowable is the subject. It is not established as a real entity, because it is not established as having a function. A moment cannot function, because when it tries to function, it has already ceased and does not exist. It cannot function gradually, because moments and permanence are excluded. The fifth is that only appearance is the subject. It is not established as a real entity, because it is dependent. Like an image. If a real entity is established by its own nature, then it will not depend on causes and conditions, because the real entity is already established. Dependence is pervaded by emptiness. For example, when puppets and mantras gather together, and horses and cows appear due to causes and conditions, just as horses and cows are empty, whether coarse or subtle, everything depends on each other, and when they appear in other forms, the forms change, so it is empty of the former. The nature is not separate from the previous one, so it is empty of the latter. When horses and cows appear, the forms are not puppets and mantras, so it is empty. The essence is not established as horses and cows, so it is empty. In the Root Wisdom Treatise, it says: 'Apart from dependent arising, there is no other dharma. Therefore, apart from emptiness, there is no other dharma.' In this way, mountains, houses, beautiful people, various women, all the things that appear, are coarse appearances, and because they are not a collection of particles, they are empty. The subtle momentary nature is empty of permanence. Therefore, it should be understood that dependent appearance is just a clear appearance without self-nature. Appearing to arise and so on is the nature of emptiness. As Nagarjuna said: 'If there is not a little bit that is not empty.' And 'You said that all arising is like illusion.' Appearing to arise is grasping at a baseless appearance, so it happens like a dream. As it says in the Bodhisattva Conduct: 'When things do not exist, the clear recognition of their non-existence is false. If you do not touch the things to be examined, you will not grasp their non-existence. For example, in a dream, if a son dies, the thought that he does not exist is an obstacle to the thought that he exists, and that is also false.' The reason for not being permanent or annihilated is just appearance.

Possessing wisdom, things do not exist, because they are neither destructible nor indestructible. If they are destructible, does the pot destruct when it exists or when it does not exist? It is unreasonable for it to destruct when it exists, because the meaning of destruction is that existence changes into non-existence, which contradicts this. It is unreasonable for it to destruct when it does not exist, because existence and non-existence cannot be the same thing, therefore it would be a fault that destruction is not established. It is impossible for it not to destruct, because the changes of moments, particles, and time are obvious. Therefore, it is not reasonable for one thing to be both existent and non-existent, and this cannot be established. As it says in the Root Wisdom: "If a thing exists for a while, then destruction is not reasonable. How can one thing be both existent and non-existent? For something that has become non-existent, destruction is also not reasonable." The reasoning for change and non-change is: Appearances, are without things, because they are neither changing nor unchanging. So, does a thing change to another state or not? If it changes, then an old person would also become young, because it is a state of change. Also, change is not established for the permanent. If it is not permanent, then it ceases at the time of change, so change is not established. There is also no cause for change, because it has been refuted by analyzing the parts. If it does not change, then it is impossible for a young person to become old. Since "that" and "other" are not established, there is also no change. As it says in the Root Verses: "In that there is no other change, and in the other there is no that. Because the young do not age, because aging does not age." Furthermore, it is not established in its own time, because the young are not aging, because aging and things are contradictory. Similarly, the old do not age, because at the moment of aging itself, the agent and the object are contradictory, and since it is already old, aging again is meaningless. The refutation of the four dharmas has already been explained in the context of the Hearers. Therefore, all the arguments that assert the existence of things are like trying to heal a city in a dream. Therefore, it is best that the lion's teeth are not bitten by a fox. For any other view, any one of these reasons can grind it into dust, therefore Shakyamuni Buddha praised the Madhyamikas as the most supreme of all. As it says in the Mother: Subhuti, this nature of reality
