It is the place. First, the action is not accomplished, just as the object of action, the agent of action, and the encounter with permanence and impermanence are prevented. Second, in the world, benefiting others and bringing them happiness is considered noble, while acting solely for one's own benefit is condemned. Third, if one abandons those sentient beings who have been benefited for a long time, it is reasonable to be blamed, because it is being ungrateful. Therefore, one must benefit and bring happiness. In the letter it says: "Whose milk was sucked with the force of love, relying on those with many hardships, if abandoned, what could be more vile than that?" Shantideva said: "For those parents and relatives, who have benefited me in the past, one should repay the kindness to those sentient beings." There are three refutations of the result: not accomplished in nature, self-interest not reaching the ultimate, and inferior because of no benefit to others. First, it is like refuting Nirvana. Second, because the ten freedoms have not been obtained, so the great liberation must first be accomplished. The verse says: "Even if you are liberated from the suffering of samsara, you are still not completely beyond sorrow. Seek this supreme Buddha vehicle." Third, because after Nirvana, no one's benefit can be accomplished, so it is only a shadow of liberation. In the Jataka it says: "Even my great suffering clearly shows the firmness of compassion. Even the small suffering of others, the one who trembles should be condemned." Just like that. Together with the refutation of the Sravaka's school, the school of the Lesser Vehicle has been explained. Now, in order to widely distinguish the treatises of the Great Vehicle, it is divided into two parts: characteristics and detailed explanations of treatises with characteristics. First, the characteristic of the Great Vehicle surpassing the Lesser Vehicle is: the Buddha Dharma Great Vehicle is like a great snow mountain lake, because of the seven superiorities such as the superior armor, the Great Vehicle is like the sky, it is an immeasurable great palace. Among them, the Great Vehicle is the nature of skillful means, behavior, and Dharma, more like a great snow mountain lake than the ocean. The Lesser Vehicle is regarded as the water in the hoofprints of cattle, because it has or does not have the seven great things. Among them, the great object is to focus on the nature of Dharma like the sky.

The small cannot, but the great can. The great practitioner is one who, during the time of the path and conduct, accomplishes the great benefit of both self and others. Hearers and solitary realizers only have self-interest. The great wisdom is the wisdom that realizes the nature of reality, which is empty of both self and phenomena, and is united with great compassion, which is absent in the lesser vehicles. The great diligence is the joy of benefiting sentient beings for countless eons, which is absent in hearers and solitary realizers. The great skillful means is the ability to accomplish benefit without abiding in the extremes of samsara and nirvana, which is absent in hearers and solitary realizers. The great accomplishment is the possession of limitless qualities such as benefiting others and power after becoming a Buddha, which is absent in the lesser vehicles. The great activity is the spontaneous accomplishment of benefiting others as long as samsara exists, which is absent in hearers and solitary realizers, but is present in the Great Vehicle, thus surpassing them. As the Ornament of the Sutras says: "The great object and, likewise, these two accomplishments, wisdom, diligence, endeavor, and whatever skillful means, the truly great accomplishment, and the great activity of the Buddhas, because it possesses the seven greatnesses, it is definitely called the Great Vehicle." Thus it is said. Among these, skillful means and compassion are particularly superior, as the Precious Garland says: "Compared to the Hearer Vehicle, the aspiration of the Bodhisattva is not taught, and the practice is not completely dedicated, how can it become the Great Vehicle?" Thus it is said. In short, all skillful means, wisdom, and liberation are vast like the sky, accomplishing the benefit of both self and others even during the time of the path, and bringing happiness and joy, and also arising from Buddhahood, as the Compendium says: "This vehicle is like the sky, a vast immeasurable mansion, the supreme vehicle that brings joy, happiness, and bliss. Whoever rides it can turn away the suffering of all sentient beings. Therefore, it is well proclaimed that it is the Great Vehicle." Thus it is said. The explanation of the particularly distinguished Great Vehicle is as follows: Although the nature of the supreme vehicle is not different, from the three views that guide the chariot, it is known as Mind-Only, Autonomy, and Consequence. The essence of that Great Vehicle, although it is in accordance with the nature that all phenomena are without inherent existence, and the accumulation of the two accumulations of merit and wisdom for countless eons, and the nature of benefiting others arising from the fruit of enlightenment, is not different, but the great teachers who guide the great chariot of the supreme scriptures.
