Thirdly, it is said to be similar to blue bark and blue lotus, only the common blue is slightly similar. Because the two similar properties are not established. Because the two different similar properties are not established, the common blue will not be established either, because the coarse and fine are mixed and not established. There are two refutations of the four dharmas: one is that they cannot become one, and the other is that they cannot be permanent or impermanent separately. First, it is impossible for birth to be from nothing to something, old age is the change from new to old, abiding is from birth to not being destroyed, and destruction is the change from existence to non-existence. These are all impossible. Because the dust has not been established, it is impossible to have different functions. Because there are three: birth, old age, and abiding, it contradicts the function of destruction. Moreover, these three also transform into destruction, so the forms are the same. Only in appearance is there no difference, and in reality, there are no parts. As stated in the Root Wisdom: The three, such as birth, each, as the function of the characteristics of conditioned phenomena, cannot exist simultaneously in one thing at one time. How is this possible? So it is said. It is impossible for a momentary thing to have these four at the same time, and there is nothing other than the moment in reality. If these four are not possessed, then the commitment that all conditioned phenomena possess these four is a failure. Therefore, no matter what thing, it seems to be like that in appearance, but that is an illusion. The nature of things does not even have a momentary part of birth, old age, abiding, and destruction, so it is not established. As stated in the same treatise: When a thing is in the process of ceasing, it is impossible for birth to be established. If something is not in the process of ceasing, then it cannot be a thing. All things at all times are subject to the laws of aging and death. If there is something that does not age and die, then what kind of existence is it? So it is said. When examining the phenomena of appearance with this reasoning, one will instantly recognize the nature of being free from birth, old age, abiding, and destruction, like the sky. Dwelling in the meditation of reality arises naturally, thereby completely destroying samsara. As stated in the Four Hundred Verses: With small wisdom, one will not have the slightest doubt about this Dharma. Even if one has the slightest doubt, it will completely destroy samsara. So it is said. If one realizes it, then there is no need to say anything more. As stated in the Mother Sutra: When explaining the Dharma of non-birth, non-abiding, and non-cessation, the five monks...

Without grasping, the mind is liberated from all defilements. The Bhikshuni Niqi realized that in all dharmas, the eye of dharma is without dust and free from defilements. This is not merely considering that there is no arising like a bubble and abiding without conceptualization, but rather clearly recognizing the nature as it is, and abiding openly without any action. Because the nature is such, it is not realized by children who grasp at characteristics. In the Sutra of the Jewel Heap, it is said: The Thus-gone One is always the unborn dharma, all dharmas are the same as the Sugata. Those with childish minds who grasp at characteristics, practice dharmas that do not exist in the world. Thus it is said. It is not permissible for each to be either permanent or impermanent, because if arising, etc., are each individually permanent, then they themselves are not conditioned, and they also cannot be the nature of other conditioned things. If they are impermanent, then each one must have the four, arising, etc., and therefore it would become endless. In the Root Wisdom it is said: Arising, dwelling, and ceasing, if there is another characteristic of conditioned things, it would become endless; if there is not, then these are not conditioned. Thus it is said. Letters are also not established, because they cannot be established as either the same or different from the many aspects of limbs, particles, and divisions of time. In the Mother (Prajnaparamita Sutra) it is said: All dharmas are without letters, without names, and separated from all characteristics. Thus it is said. Then, from where are so many aggregates of dharma spoken? Although there are no letters in reality, for those who are confused because they have not realized it, because they are attached to letters and walk in samsara, they hear and teach the meaning of the unborn, etc., by way of imputation. In the King of Samadhi Sutra it is said: In the dharmas without letters, what is hearing and what is teaching? Imputing to that which does not change, hearing and teaching are also done in this way. Thus it is said. There is also no entering, like ordinary people entering a path, because there is no agent and no object. Like livestock entering a house, because difference is prohibited. And it is not permissible to enter permanence or impermanence, because if it is permanent, it cannot enter, and if it is impermanent, it ceases when entering is fabricated. Therefore, both arising and entering are negated. There is also no quickness, because going is prohibited, and because moving is prohibited, because if it is permanent, it does not move, and if it is impermanent, it ceases when moving is fabricated. Negation of place is threefold: center and edge, boundary.
