Twenty, because they are incorrect, they hold onto afflictions and faults. The five aggregates of form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness, each individually considered as "I"; the belief that "I" exists within them; the belief that they arise dependent on "I"; and the view that "I" can control form and so on—these are twenty in total. These are called the twenty high peaks of the view of the aggregates of destruction. To refute these, take one aspect, such as form, and apply it: Form, as a phenomenon, should not be considered "I" because it is impermanent, diverse, and dependent on others. The belief that "I" exists within form is also unreasonable because "I" is not an object-possessor. The belief that form arises dependent on "I" is also unreasonable because it does not arise solely from "I." The belief that "I" can control form is also unreasonable because the beauty or ugliness of color and shape, etc., are not under the control of "I." The Intermediate Mother Sutra also states: "Form is not I, I do not reside in form, I do not possess form, and form does not rely on me." Similarly, so are feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness. Chandrakirti also said: "Form is not I, I do not reside in form, I do not possess form, and form does not rely on me. Feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness, observing in these four ways, the twenty views are unreasonable." As it is said. The sixty-two views are: the eighteen views of the past extremity, such as clinging to permanence, and the forty-four views of the future extremity, such as clinging to existence of perception. All of these are engaging in improper attention, and inverted wisdom is precisely the adornment of samsara. Those who cling to the sixty-two views will forever wander in samsara, and therefore there is no possibility of attaining liberation. What are they? The eighteen views clinging to the past extremity and the forty-four views clinging to the future extremity. First, the views of the past extremity can be understood in five

Thinking that there is an ultimate end, they say that I and all the world are permanent. Similarly, remembering sixty and ninety intermediate kalpas, and seeing the continuous succession of births from one household to another, they say that everything is permanent. Thus, in four ways, or because some renunciates, even though they have transmigrated from the realm of Brahma through their clairvoyance, still see the Lord Brahma remaining, they say that the Great Brahma is permanent, while other gods and the world are impermanent. Some, because they died angry at other gods of the Thirty-Three (त्रयस्त्रिंश,trayastriṃśa,literally: thirty-three), but see that those other gods still remain, say that the gods of the desire realm who cause vexation are impermanent, while others are permanent. Some, seeing that some are distracted by the spectacle of the Thirty-Three and forget to eat and die, think that the gods of the desire realm who deceive with pleasures are impermanent, while others are permanent. Some, seeing that the four formless elements cease, but the mind and mental factors do not cease but arise, say that the four elements are impermanent, while the mind and mental factors are permanent. All four of these see the permanent gods as liberation and desire to attain the permanent gods. The four who speak of having or not having an end are: Some, whose clairvoyance has not seen beyond the hells to the Fourth Dhyana, think that there is nothing beyond that, and say that I and the world have an end. Some, although they have not seen everything, see the boundary of the end, and infer that there is also something beyond that, and say that I and the world are without end. Some see the end of the human world, but do not see the end of the Brahma world, and say both having and not having an end. Some see the Brahma world, but think that it cannot be measured by having or not having measure, and say that I and the world are in a state that is neither having nor not having an end. The four who speak of not abandoning the gods and humans are: Previously, in a certain place of the non-Buddhists, others argued and debated with us, and if they refuted us, they vowed to say that they would not abandon the gods and humans. Because of the four types of intelligence, they are divided into four: When a person of little wisdom is asked what his view is, he replies that he does not know anything else, and that he does not abandon the gods and humans. When someone who has not studied the tenets is asked, he also says that he does not know anything else, and says that he does not abandon the gods and humans. Studied
