Because there is contradiction. The sound of the Vedas is considered to be constant, therefore it falls into contradiction. It cannot be true, because the contradiction of the expressed content is seen, and even if the sound is heard, there is no one who expresses the meaning, just like the sound of water and wind. The refutation of the argument is: words cannot express meaning, because the universality of the sound of words and the absence of the sound of meaning, the connection between these two is not established, and words will disappear before and after the moment, and each individual letter has no meaning, and all words do not go beyond individual letters. So, what are you doing by explaining and listening? Although it seems that way in illusion, in reality, I don't want to explain and listen. As the master Nagarjuna said in praise of the Buddha's speech: All objects of focus are completely pacified, all elaborations are completely ceased, where have the Buddhas, and to whom, not shown any Dharma. Just like that. There are four refutations of what is expressed: sacrifice, history, secret, refutation of the same kind. The first, there are three refutations of sacrifice, giving, and fire offering. The refutation of sacrifice is threefold: it is unreasonable for the god to be happy or unhappy. If the god is happy to slaughter livestock, then this god cannot be the object of sacrifice, because he has attachment and aversion, just like a ghost. If you are not happy, there will be no benefit, because you have done something that is not happy. It is unreasonable for a god without a basis. A sacrificer who has done sinful deeds, along with livestock, cannot be brought to the heavenly realm, because the god has no power. No, because by examining time and moment, the god is not established, so the god's guidance is not established. Therefore, liberation and heaven completely depend on one's own good deeds. As it is said in the "Letter to a Friend": Liberation depends only on oneself, and there is no other helper. Just like that. If it is thought that the seven sacrifices and so on done by others after death are helpful, it is the same. That is because it is helpful to offer wealth that one can control and recite mantras, and it is helpful because of the power of pure intention, which is different from sacrifices without compassion. It is also said in the Mūlasarvāstivāda Vinaya: From Brahma to hell, all sentient beings cherish life, if you kill the lives of other sentient beings, how can you be happy? All beings want happiness.

If one inflicts much suffering on all beings in the world, how can that become a cause of happiness? Therefore, this contradicts your own scriptures. If you say that this is advice for times other than sacrifices, that is the same. If it is sinful at other times, then it cannot become virtuous at the time of sacrifice. If it is inferred that one should make sacrifices with oneself, then since the happiness of gods is a hundred thousand times greater than that of humans, one should kill oneself to make sacrifices in order to quickly attain that happiness. In the Jataka it says: 'By acting wrongly, the mind is not transformed, and the path of virtue is not determined. Even if animals are killed for sacrifices, how can we, who have no basis, be born in heaven? If killing for sacrifice leads to heaven, then the Brahmin himself should be transformed into an animal to be killed.' There is a fault in this. In the Smṛtyupasthāna Sutra it says: 'If one says that killing leads to birth as a god, one will be born in the great burning hell; killing animals and making sacrifices will lead to birth in the great dark hell; killing people for sacrifices will lead to birth in the iron pot hell.' Refuting giving: From the two aspects of nature and convention. In terms of nature, there are three general refutations: the permanent and impermanent cannot be given, contact and non-contact are not possible, and the gross and subtle are not possible. The first is: giving, no matter by whom to whom, there is no giving of even a little, because permanent things cannot be moved, so they cannot be transferred from one hand to another; and impermanent things cease before they reach the hand. The second is: contact has already been refuted, and non-contact does not benefit, just as the beggar's mouth and food do not touch, so hunger is not relieved. The third is: gross objects cannot be given, just like the general refutation. Subtle things cannot be given because there are no particles and they cannot be seen. In the Prajnaparamita Sutra it says: 'There is no complete giving to anyone, and the receiver and the act of receiving are naturally pure.' If you also want to give, it is only a good illusion and thought, not a real self-nature, because all dharmas are like dreams. In the Prajnaparamita Sutra it says: 'All dharmas are like dreams, like illusions.' Even so, it does not prevent the appearance of giving, and even if it is given, there is no truth to each other, because the illusionist is very skilled.
