It does not meet because there is another interval. Therefore, if there is no interval in meeting, then the two will become one; if there is an interval, it will be separated by another interval, so it cannot meet. As it says in the scripture: If there is an interval between the senses and the objects, where will they meet? If there is no interval, then it is one, what meets with what? Fifth, what has already met cannot meet again, because the act of meeting has ceased. Thinking about all dharmas in this way, one will understand that there is no self-nature, thus transforming attachment to names. In the Sutra of Small Truth, it says: Objects that appear in this way, if examined with wisdom, nothing can be found. This which cannot be found is the ultimate truth, the dharma nature that has always existed. Any thought that thinks "I see" is seen by the sleep of ignorance. The above is the refutation of difference. The difference that arises from something, difference cannot occur without first meeting, and meeting itself has already been refuted as mentioned earlier. For both what has been differentiated and what has not been differentiated, there is no difference, and no other difference can be found. There is no difference in oneself alone, and there is no difference in others, because the entities are different. Refuting otherness is divided into two: generally refuting self-nature and otherness, and refuting specific others in name. The first is non-simultaneous

If there is absolutely no other, then by what is 'non-other' established? If, assuming that a pot is established solely by its own nature, but it is considered 'non-other' in relation to a pillar etc., then in that case, relying on that, it would also become other, therefore it would fall into the fault of possessing contradictory qualities. These are merely imputations, and do not exist in reality. As it says in the Root Wisdom: "Otherness does not exist in another, nor does it exist in non-other. If otherness does not exist, then what other or that itself exists?". The sound of the quality of space is also not valid, because when a person utters Om(ༀ,Devanagari: ॐ,IAST: oṃ,Literal meaning: Om), what is heard is clearly the sound of the person, so how could it be the sound of space? If it is said that it is because the person utters it, then a pot would also become something that arises from space, etc. Moreover, space itself is not established, so its sound is impossible. For what is permanent, there is no division of uttering and not uttering. If there were sound in space, then it would always be heard. When uttering Om(ༀ,Devanagari: ॐ,IAST: oṃ,Literal meaning: Om), all sounds such as conch sounds etc. would have to be heard simultaneously, because there is no difference in clearing away the obstructing wind. Then, is it also unreasonable for sound to arise from the tongue and palate? Answer: That is established by appearing directly from conditions, and merely appearing as an illusion is interdependent. As it says in the Two Truths: "As it appears, so is the nature of things, therefore one should not investigate this". Therefore, it is said that sound and other things are not established for things. Refutation of action: The previous refutation of the impossibility of movement for permanent and impermanent things refutes it. For example, if Devadatta goes from east to west, does the permanent go or the impermanent go? The permanent cannot go, because it cannot move even slightly. If it could move, then because of moving, permanence would be lost. The impermanent also cannot go, because when it appears to be going, it has already arisen and ceased, so there is no possibility of moving to another place. Continuity cannot be permanent, because there is no encounter with the moment, so continuity is not established. As it says in the Root Wisdom: "If it is said that conditioned things move, if those things are permanent, then they should not move; if they are impermanent, it is also the same. What has gone does not move, what has not gone also does not move. Apart from what has gone and what has not gone, what third going is there?". That is to say, what has already gone cannot go, because it has ceased. What has not gone cannot go, because it has not yet come.
