The three combine and are equal in nature. If the three are unequal, they are born into the six realms. Among them, if suffering is predominant, one is born into the hells and hungry ghost realms. If ignorance, the intermediate state, is predominant, one is born into the animal realm. Beings with predominant happiness are born into the heavenly realms and the human realm. As stated in the treatise of Maheśvara: "Dust, darkness, and courage, If these qualities dwell equally, Then it is well said to be the Lord (Pradhāna), If unequal, it is said to be beings." Thus it is taught. That Lord also possesses five characteristics: being material, being eternal, being unique, being the creator of beings, and being invisible, hence hidden. Among them, the meaning of material is: lacking consciousness, it is also not desired to be in form, therefore it is shown to be unseen by anyone. Eternal is that which exists from beginningless time to endless time. Unique is that the Lord pervades all knowable things, and there is only this one, no other. The creator of beings is that all containers and contents arise from the Lord. Invisible is that others cannot see it except for those who have attained the eye of meditation, such as the Samkhyas. Although the eternal and unique one can be seen with the eye of meditation, even those Samkhyas cannot see with the eye of a bubble, therefore it is called unseen by all. It can be seen with the eye of meditation but not with the eye of a bubble, therefore it is twofold. That Lord indeed possesses the nature of things because it is liberated from the absence of others, and it pervades all because it pervades pleasure, pain, and equanimity, this is the proof. As stated in Maheśvara: "Displeasure, complete suffering, and, Sorrow and strife, etc., Occasionally also appear, These are considered signs of dust. Ignorance and likewise darkness and, Carelessness, sleep, and distraction, etc., Occasionally also appear, These are the qualities of darkness. Joy, satisfaction, and great joy, and, Bliss and peaceful mind, etc., Occasionally also appear, These are the qualities of courage." Thus it is said. The three being unequal cause transformation. That "Great" is a synonym for intelligence, possessing the three qualities of matter, form, and the dharma that enjoys the realm of the Purusha. Matter is that which is without mind and without form.

That which has form is the appearance of images. In that which is like a house of the mirror of wisdom, from the outside appear forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures, and from the inside appears the image of the self. When the two images merge into one, it is said that the self enjoys the object. However, it is not desired that the self or the actual mind itself enjoys the forms and so on in their own characteristics. Therefore, it is said that what appears in the mind is determined by the individual. All appearances are merely the mixing of the images of the mind and the object in the mind. What appears as the knower is not the mind, and what appears as the vase and so on is not the object. The two, the object and the knower, are hidden. As it was said before: One who has courage born in the mind, or the image of the individual arises, likewise, having completely transformed, follows the entry of the mind. And so on. From that, three kinds of pride arise: pride born from suffering, pride with transformations, and pride with darkness, although there are three prides, they are counted as one pride. From the pride born from suffering arise eleven faculties. From the pride of transformation arise the five tanmatras. From the five tanmatras arise the five elements: from sound comes space, from form comes fire, from smell comes earth, from taste comes water, from touch comes wind. The pride with darkness helps the other two to grow, but does not produce separate fruits. The Black Lord of Power says: From nature comes the great, from that comes pride, from pride come sixteen characteristics. Thus, sixteen arise, and from that also, from the five tanmatras, five arise. That is to say, the things that are born are not newly born from nothing, but are inherently present in the nature of the principal, therefore it is called the effect residing in the cause, because the effects follow only the nature of the cause, follow only the power, and because the effect is born from the cause. That is, the effect follows the nature of the cause, just as coarse cloth follows the nature of yarn, and a golden vase follows the nature of gold. Following the power is like the bitterness of neem, the sweetness of brown sugar, a shadow arising from an iron vase, but not arising from a glass vase. Because it is born from the cause, it is existent.
