In order to seek, to seek for the sake of perfecting the Buddha's Dharma without arrogance and desire, to seek completely in this way. When should one listen with such a vessel? Dharma. The time to listen to the Dharma is when the antidote is strong. One should seek the advice given at the appropriate time. That is, when it becomes the antidote to one's own afflictions, listening to this Dharma is profound, it is the time to connect with the continuum. When there is a desire to seek meaning, and when one is young, it is the time to listen to a place as vast as the ocean. One should listen at the beginning of naturally entering the teachings, because one knows the faults and merits of samsara and nirvana, and thus enters into acceptance and rejection. One should listen when taming one's own continuum, because one eliminates ignorance of anything. One should also listen when constantly practicing, because one wants to make virtuous deeds stable and so on even more enhanced. One should also listen when all streams of consciousness are liberated, because one wants to cut off the proliferation of doubt. Therefore, now from the beginning of entering the path to the final accomplishment, it is very important to listen to the door of Dharma from someone more superior than oneself, because one can turn one's mind to the practices of the previous great masters, and one can make one's own realization even higher. If one thinks that this is enough at the beginning, clinging to any one thing and practicing in seclusion, one will not succeed in the end, and one will not notice the deviation and error of the path. People may think that they are practicing the Dharma, but there is no benefit to themselves. In the "Heap of Jewels Sutra," it says: "Son of good family, if you want to quickly realize perfect enlightenment, you should learn to completely seek to reach the other shore of the ocean of learning." So how should one listen? That is, one should abandon distractions and disturbances, offer Dharma with real objects and in mind, prostrate, sit upright, join palms, and listen with an undistracted and respectful attitude. When listening to the Dharma, one should abandon all distractions and disturbances. That is, worldly business and so on are the distractions of the three doors, and the gathering of retinues and utensils inside, and being dominated by them, the three doors are busy, which is called disturbance and confusion. In a place where there are favorable conditions that do not hinder the Dharma, set up the Dharma seat of the speaker, with silks and so on.

When requesting to be seated, offer actual objects such as incense, flowers, and lamps, and visualize offering clouds of offerings, both owned and unowned, piled up like mountains in the expanse of the sky. Abandon your own adornments such as umbrellas, staffs, weapons, head coverings, and shoes. Do not look with your back or side, but sit in a half-lotus posture or squat, with eyes lowered and palms joined. Listen without letting your mind wander from the Dharma, and listen with respect and joy towards the Dharma and the Lama. As it is said in the Sutra of Gathering Precious Qualities: "Joy, respect, and supreme faith are the proximate cause, eliminating obscurations and afflictions, free from defilement, for the benefit of beings, manifestly entering the wisdom that has gone beyond. Listen to that which the brave ones practice." Listen in this way. Other than that, do not think that the speaker does not know the Dharma, or that he is of low caste, or has little enjoyment, or has gross afflictions, or is angry, or is violent, or has unpleasant speech, or has poor clothing, or is poor and destitute, or has bad retinue, not even for a moment. If such thoughts arise, confess and restrain them, remember the kindness of the Lama, and generate a hundred times the recognition of the Buddha. This is the samadhi of listening to the Dharma. That is, visualize yourself as Manjushri, and visualize the light of the Dharma shining into your heart. If the listener is male, visualize red Manjushri holding a sword and a book on a lotus; if female, visualize green Tara holding a lotus. Visualize the light of the Dharma emanating from the speaker's mouth and shining into your heart, dispelling the darkness of ignorance and opening the lotus of wisdom, this is the key instruction. Listening in this way is to achieve Buddhahood by tasting the flavor of the Dharma. As it is said in the Middle Length Prajnaparamita Sutra: "Sons or daughters of good family should listen to the Dharma and serve the noble person with reverence. Having heard it, they should practice it until they attain complete and perfect enlightenment." At that time, with the eighty-four aspects of listening, listen with a complete, excellent, and respectful mind. When the listener listens to the Dharma with a focused mind
