Defects Becoming deficient, like previous and subsequent vows contradicting each other, secretly slandering one's own retinue and others within the Dharma, mixing in bad local dialects, not conforming to the dispositions of those to be tamed, etc. Abandoning these faults, one should explain with perfect words, so that the meaning is clear and pervades the minds of the retinue, the sound is pleasing to the ear and makes the masses happy to listen, the meaning of the words is clear and cuts off doubts, the metaphors are exquisite and make the listeners convinced and easy to understand, conforming to the dispositions and turning into real meaning, telling wonderful stories at the right time and not making the listeners tired, drawing from the framework of doctrine and reasoning and having no errors, being skilled in turning away from sins by raising previous views and faults, speaking in a way that is in accordance with all vehicles and making the masses believe, being easy to understand and not mixing in bad local dialects so that the words are worthy of receiving, being skilled in expanding and contracting so that the speech is free, and the manner of being relaxed and broad-minded without hindrance or fatigue is called the teaching with abundant qualities. Such a Dharma speaker is directly blessed by the Teacher himself, as it is said in the 《Secret Essence Tantra of Magical Illusion》: All the Tathagatas, the great secret heart essence of the mudra, whoever realizes and speaks it, that is me and the power is also complete. How to show the way the master completes the accumulation of merit and wisdom? At that time, the six perfections of teaching are: good explanation of words and meaning is the giving of Dharma, speaking without defilements is the perfection of discipline, enduring fatigue is diligence, not being distracted is meditation, and distinguishing is wisdom. Explaining the meaning of the Dharma well is giving. Explaining without mixing with defilements is discipline. Enduring fatigue, hunger, thirst, heat, cold, etc. while teaching is patience. Not being tired and rejoicing in teaching is diligence. Not being distracted and being single-minded in teaching is meditation. Discriminating each of the places to be taught and realizing the absence of self-nature is wisdom. Moreover, knowing that it is like a dream and illusion at the time of teaching, one should know that this is taken by the perfection of wisdom.
