Not abandoning taming, being easy to please, easy to nourish, possessing the perfection of beautiful rituals and conduct, and also not abandoning the practice of serving the guru. And being gentle, peaceful, pure, and fearless, and also not abandoning the practice of shame and knowing embarrassment. Although skilled in the profound and vast Dharma meanings, engaging in accordance with the thoughts of the world. Being naturally upright and gentle, pleasant to associate with, engaging in accordance with the thoughts of sentient beings, but not associating with immoral and violent individuals. Rejoicing in generosity and taming, unchanging in friendship, delighting in rituals and abiding, yet not clinging to anything, and also not conceptually thinking about the place of practice. Although removing latent tendencies, entanglements, and suffering, not abandoning the effort to eliminate the afflictions of other sentient beings. Such a guru, if the listener respects the Dharma and the teacher, seeks liberation, possesses wisdom, and is impartial, becoming a vessel for seeking the meaning, then teaches them the profound and vast places, the supreme Dharma of liberation. First, examining the vessel is crucial, just as food differs for children and the elderly, so too does the Dharma differ in nature. In the world, a newborn child is given warm and very soft food. If given coarse and hard food, it becomes like poison. When grown, one can eat various kinds of food like a bunch. For beginners, one should teach the faults of samsara and the benefits of liberation, the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, impermanence of life, etc., to turn their minds away from samsara, and teach that all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, etc. For those of lower intelligence, teach the Dharma of Hearers and Solitary Realizers; for those of intermediate intelligence, teach the Vehicle of Reasoning; and for those of great intelligence, teach the Secret Mantra Vajrayana. Or, for the three types of lower individuals, teach the three vehicles of Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Bodhisattvas; for the three types of intermediate individuals, teach the three sections of Kriya, Charya, and Yoga; and for the three types of superior individuals, teach the three sections of Generation Stage, Completion Stage, and Great Perfection. As it is said in the Atiyoga Great Perfection Tantra: "For the three lower ones, the teachings are the Vinaya, Sutra, and Abhidharma; for the three intermediate ones, the definite teachings are Kriya, Yoga, and Upa; for the three great ones in order, the Generation Stage, Completion Stage, and Great Perfection are taught." Shantideva also said: "Do not teach the supreme Dharma to the inferior, vast

As it is said, "Do not apply inferior Dharma to a superior vessel." How to examine? It is best to examine the disposition and latent faculties of those to be tamed through clairvoyance, and then teach in accordance with that. If that is not possible, then examine by associating with those of middling capacity. If that is not available, then it is important to examine by asking those of lower capacity. If it is not so, then a single Dharma cannot mature different mental dispositions, so what is beneficial to some may become poison to others, just as milk that is beneficial to a calf becomes poison to a snake. Therefore, the Buddha also taught immeasurable Dharma doors and categories in accordance with the minds of beings. As it says in the Treasury [Abhidharmakośa], "As an antidote to actions, the aggregates of Dharma are taught in accordance." If one thing were sufficient, it would be meaningless for the Buddha to have taught so much, but that is not the case. Nowadays, many say that it is enough to recognize the present awareness, and that it is meaningless to teach many things. If that were sufficient, the Buddha would not need to teach other things. Moreover, even the present awareness must rely on listening and the guru's yoga, so it is engaging in self-contradiction. Therefore, for the mind, the order of the first, middle, and last, whichever is more important and profound as an antidote, should be taught accordingly. In short, just as mental dispositions are different, so are the Dharmas different, so it is appropriate to teach the Dharma that is suitable for each. Then, it will be explained in the manner of guiding in stages. This will lead to understanding the stages of the vehicles, increasing qualities, and being without fear or dread. There will be no error, and view and conduct will be combined. When those who desire liberation come, the virtuous friend, skilled in means, should look with clairvoyance and, combining with their faculties, apply them to any of the three Bodhis. If that one has karmic connections from having practiced the path before, then the Dharma should also be led directly from whatever connection there is, and placed on a higher level. If there is no clairvoyance, then examine with reason and place them on any of the three vehicles. In particular, for those with the disposition of the Great Vehicle, there are three ways of guiding: the effortless path of descending from above like a garuda, the gradual path with signs of ascending from below like a monkey, and the path of sudden realization of guiding from the middle path. Although this can liberate those with karmic connections, for those with lesser karmic connections, or
