Moreover, if one is interested in incorrect, mixed, and artificial Dharma, and considers seeking liberation to be a strange thing, the situation is like this: Even when buying and selling inferior goods, if one does not know, one asks others. Nowadays, people enter any Dharma path that arises, without the eye of wisdom, and their hearing and thinking are just superficial. Those with eyes do not ask others and have no discernment. Many who desire liberation are deceived by demons. Even when buying inferior goods such as silk, clothes, horses, and jewels, if one knows, one can discern good from bad. If one does not know, one asks others who know. But nowadays, since the most precious thing for attaining liberation and enlightenment is the sacred Dharma, they do not even use their own wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating to discern it. Instead, they blindly believe in whatever impure Dharma is popular, and presumptuously preach it to others. They not only do not ask those learned ones who have the eye of hearing, thinking, and meditating, but they also slander them out of jealousy and contemptuously call them "worldly people." Know that this is due to the flourishing of the demons who deceive liberation. The "Noble Stainless Moon Sutra" says: In the future, there will be many arrogant monks who will pretend to be Dharma. At that time, they will mix their own corrupted Dharma and proclaim it to be sacred. They will not prostrate to other Dharma speakers, they will not ask questions, and they will always slander with resentment. Those foolish people will, therefore, fall into evil paths and evil realms after death. Now, to conclude, the advice is to abandon evil friends: Here, one must carefully discern and abandon evil friends, because the benefits of abandoning evil friends are immeasurable. One will not fall into evil paths, good deeds will constantly increase, one will be praised by the noble ones, and one will accomplish a great collection of merits. Because one seeks liberation, the merit of abandoning evil friends through careful discernment is immeasurable. The "Noble Jewel Cloud Sutra" says: Abandoning evil friends will prevent one from falling into evil paths and evil realms. One's collection of virtues will also increase. One will be praised by all the Buddhas. One will gain inexhaustible collections of qualities. There are also other benefits: vast mindfulness, samadhi, and wisdom.

field. Here is happiness, and the next life is also good. The banks of the Ganges River in the heavens of the Sugatas are well traversed, and all the fields are seen to be filled with the wealth of the princes. Those who abandon sinful companions, through the power of increasing virtue, the mindfulness of thinking about the Dharma, and the one-pointed samadhi, and the wisdom of achieving liberation, create the great path of liberation. Here also is longevity, and possession of wealth, and freedom from disease, and possession of radiance, and joy upon seeing, and among gods and humans, everyone desires and praises with sweet words, and merely thinking accomplishes all desired things, and benefiting oneself and others, beautiful and happy, the best of the manifestly exalted dharmas of the next life. The body adorned with wealth surpassing gods and humans is achieved. That which surpasses the heavens of ordinary beings is the pure land such as Sukhavati. Its name is metaphorically expressed in poetry as the banks of the Ganges River in the heavens of the Sugatas, where one goes and takes birth. Seeing the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas abiding on the earth. Enjoying lotuses, wish-fulfilling trees, bathing ponds, jewel foundations, and houses of various jewels, is called being filled with wealth. Truly excellent is the earth, the path, the dharani, and the transformation through samadhi, and the attainment of enlightenment. Therefore, those who desire liberation should diligently strive to abandon sinful spiritual friends and companions. Do not associate even for a moment on the same path. Do not speak or rely on them, as it is said in the Sutra on Mindfulness: "Do not associate with sinful companions even for a moment, do not speak even a word, do not accompany them on the road." And also in the Liberation Sutra of Sadaprarudita: "You should abandon sinful companions." And in the Earth-Essence Sutra: "Sinful companions are like a burning fire on a rocky cliff, to be abandoned." By analogy, those who disrespect their own lamas and speak ill of them should also be recognized as sinful spiritual friends and companions, and should not be associated with or relied upon even on the same path. As it is said in the Vinaya: "One should not associate with those who are displeased with them." Thus it is said. In any case, it is necessary to live in the same place, etc.
