Having received these, we do not need others to do them for us, so we should remember the kindness and be grateful. Furthermore, just as the king's close attendants need everyone to share the burden, we should also strive to respect the attendants of the lama, etc., without disturbing their minds. In addition, before doing anything, we should first consult the lama. This will point out the good and prevent all the bad. Especially when teaching the Dharma and giving empowerments, we should consult and proceed only with permission. If the lama does not allow it, it is possible, because it is to prevent things that are not suitable for benefiting others, which may be the work of demons. When we sleep, we should turn our pillow towards the direction where the lama is; when we eat and drink, we should remember the lama and offer the essence of the food; when we do anything, we should think, 'Is this the teaching of the lama?' and then carefully strive to accomplish it. In short, we should always maintain a respectful and reverent attitude towards the lama. If we explain these principles in conjunction with the scriptures, as it says in the samadhi where the Buddha is now manifestly present: A Bodhisattva should go to the dwelling of the Dharma speaker, and with the reverence due to the teacher Buddha, perform all offerings and services, and follow him. Even for the sake of merely listening to the Dharma, one should follow him for as long as one lives, let alone for receiving transmissions, writing, and practicing? At all times, abandon self-cherishing and act according to the mind of that virtuous friend. Also, in the *Gandavyuha Sutra*, it says: The merchant's son, Norzang, developed faith in the great Bodhi and practiced diligently. He praised the virtuous friend, the noble Manjushri, following him like a shadow. Manjushri said: Associating with the lama and serving him with respect is the foundation for achieving great Bodhi, so rely on him and associate with him without getting tired. Furthermore, in the *Supreme Samaya Tantra*, it says: With body, speech, and mind's strength, whoever serves and respects the lama to the best of their ability, will receive a collection of power and abilities, and blessings will come unhindered. Therefore, strive to please the lama through careful conduct and respectful attitude. Avoid those behaviors that should be abandoned and are contrary to the path, because these behaviors are inconsistent with the Dharma, so avoid disrespectful behavior.

Those without shame: frowning and squinting, clapping hands, turning the back, sitting sideways, stretching legs and moving feet, lying sideways and overlapping, fighting and quarreling, playing and joking, flaunting charm. Not respecting the guru, associating with virtuous people, due to youth or lack of shame, the mind is not subdued, and various behaviors arise. When listening to the Dharma or at other times, harboring hatred, or being critical and accusatory, or staring with wide eyes due to delusion. Staring with wide eyes as if not fearing sin, not knowing how to restrain oneself, looking directly at the guru. Clapping hands or making loud snapping sounds in front of the guru. Turning the back to the guru, or sitting sideways. Sitting with legs stretched out and feet moving. Lying down. Hunching over, lying sideways like a plowshare. Fighting each other. Even if it's just joking or playing, wrestling each other, or striking from above, or striking with palms, etc. Laughing excessively, behaving frivolously. Flaunting clothes, etc. Furthermore, spitting phlegm and mucus anywhere, stepping on shadows, walking in front without permission, stepping on the guru's footprints. Using the guru's shoes, cushions, mounts, possessions, etc. Measuring the guru's height with sticks of different lengths, or measuring with the palm of the hand, or comparing the guru's height with pillars, etc., saying "as tall as this." Not being respectful, not understanding these faults, one should abandon them. In the room where the guru resides, and in front of the guru, one should avoid spitting phlegm, blowing the nose, vomiting, and defecating, etc. Do not equate the toilet with other places, and do not pay attention to one's behavior. One should avoid stepping on the guru's shadow. Without permission, do not walk in front of the guru, or walk from the right side, or step on the guru's footprints. The right side is the front of the line, so it is forbidden to walk from there. The front is the beginning of walking, so it is forbidden. The back will cause the fault of stepping on footprints, so it is forbidden, one can walk from the left. If permission is granted, there is no fault in walking from anywhere. Therefore, one should ask for permission when walking. The guru's shoes, clothes, cushions, other possessions, mounts, bedroom, tableware, bowls, books, etc., should not be used without permission. Do not measure the guru's height with sticks of different lengths, or measure with the palm of the hand, or compare with pillars, etc., saying "as tall as this." Do not use one's own arm
