If one gives completely, one will obtain countless ripened fruits. In short, perfecting the accumulation of merit and wisdom, pacifying all obstacles of bad conditions, possessing great power and wealth, and quickly attaining Buddhahood are the visible and invisible qualities of the Dharma. Because my life was about to end, through the merit of offering with the three pure circles to the venerable Guru Padmasambhava, my life was extended, and I became endowed with enjoyment. Therefore, if such benefits of faith can be obtained in this very life, what need is there to mention future lives? Originally, in the past age of the Good Kalpa, conceptual thoughts were less, and good and evil slowly ripened in future lives, with a vast foundation. Nowadays, in the degenerate age, coarse thoughts cause the karmic consequences of this life to ripen directly. As stated in the sutras, performing virtuous deeds in a supreme field matures directly without the passage of months and years, and one can see it directly for oneself and others, therefore one has faith. The supreme fields are the Guru, the Khenpo, the Acharya, the sick, the Dharma speaker, the Bodhisattva who is the last existence, the Shravaka, the Pratyekabuddha Arya, and the parents. Both merit and non-merit are powerful when done towards them. The Treasury says: Even if they are not Aryas, the merit of (serving) parents, the sick, the Dharma speaker, and the Bodhisattva who is the last existence is said to be immeasurable. Thus it is also proclaimed. Therefore, the immeasurable qualities are explained in detail in the tantras. As the Tantra of the Garland of Flames says: If a wise yogi, sacrificing his own food and clothing, makes offerings to the Vajra Guru, it is better than offering a thousand feasts to countless monks in the surrounding kingdoms of the field. Whether it is food or clothing, offering it to the Guru once, the merit cannot be exhausted even by speaking of hundreds of thousands. And as the Vajra Corpse Raising Tantra says: Whoever constantly offers the best of food and drink to the Vajradhara Guru, will also increase food and drink here, and will attain the state of a Chakravartin king. And as the Vajra Kilaya Tantra says: Whoever is intelligent, if he always perfects the ritual on the Tsok offering cake in front of the Guru, will have enjoyment and complete the accumulation.

Furthermore, it eliminates all obstacles for oneself and others, and one is reborn as a member of the retinue of Guhyapati (Vajrapani). Also, in the Gongdü it says: Even if one does not know or understand all the teachings, by honoring and greatly serving a lama who possesses good qualities, one will cross the ocean of samsara. For example, just as seeds planted in a very fertile field grow and increase. Also, in the Guhyasamaja it says: More meritorious than offering to the Buddhas of the ten directions and three times is offering to a single pore of the lama's body hair. In the Sutra of the Auspicious Arising, it says: By pleasing a virtuous spiritual friend, one obtains the enlightenment of a Buddha. In the Great Array it says: Horses, elephants, wealth of livestock, royal power, children and consorts, gold, silver, copper, iron, precious jewels, food, feasts, clothing, essence, medicinal grains, flowers, Dharma and material enjoyments, all these are offered as offerings to please the lama. By this, all accomplishments, without exception, are achieved unimpededly in this very moment. If one cannot afford to do so, then offer a multitude of offerings created from the mind, equal to one's age. This too is the same as the previous merit. In the Tantra of the Ocean of Wisdom it says: Thus, the ultimate result of accomplishment arises solely from relying on the lama. The accomplishments of others will not lead to liberation. Therefore, the essence of all accomplishments, if one pleases the lama with sandalwood, camphor, or fragrances, then for hundreds of thousands of eons, one's merit will be far superior to making offerings in hundreds of thousands of Buddha-fields. More meritorious than adorning countless thousands of form bodies of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas with five precious substances is adorning a single hair or body hair of the lama with five precious substances; this is immeasurable merit. Just as offering a feast seven times to sixty-two hundred thousand monks who uphold their vows, is not comparable to the merit of offering seven grains of rice gruel into the lama's mouth; hundreds of thousands of kotis cannot match it. Thus, contemplating the benefits of offering to the lama, one should offer and serve with one's body and all possessions. When offering a small amount of material to the lama, one should not boast or be greedy, nor should one brag about it to others, nor should one regret it. Since this is the means of accomplishing great matters in this life and the next, one should offer with all excellence and always serve with reverence. Offering to gods and
