And, there is no such thing as not serving the body, not abandoning the feet, and not being happy with the work of speech. As it is said in the Jewel Heap Sutra: When the Bhagavan accumulated merit for countless three great asamkhyeya kalpas, in order to seek the virtuous friend who teaches the six-syllable Vajra speech (seed syllable: Om, Devanagari: ॐ, IAST: oṃ, literal meaning: Om), his feet and even his hips were worn out, and he went to all the worlds. Also, as it is said in the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra: the liberation of the Bodhisattva Sadāprarudita, and as it is said in the Jewel Garland Sutra: the liberation of Sudhana, and as it is said in the Wise and Foolish Sutra: the king erected and offered a thousand butter lamps on his body for the sake of the Dharma, and so on, having practiced many austerities, one should remember the matter of seeking a virtuous friend, and think, why do I not seek? One should think in this way and seek a true lama. If he has the qualities described in the scriptures, then even if there are some or many faults in terms of worldly lineage, enjoyment, and behavior, one should rely on him. Especially the virtuous friend, because he is without deceit and hypocrisy, what he thinks in his heart and what he says in his mouth are consistent, and his foundation is vast, so it seems a little difficult to get along with him, therefore, one must rely on him with an attitude of enduring difficulties. As it is said in the Gongdü Sutra: Even if he has the faults of a worldly person, if he is a guide who is skilled in the path, then no matter how difficult it is to endure, one must endure everything. And so on. After obtaining a true and excellent virtuous friend, one should rely on him without weariness, and in order to accomplish great things, one should rely on him for a long time with great patience and respect. In this way, the true lamas, when examining the capacity of the disciples, will first conduct observation and analysis. For stingy people, they will show that they have a great desire for wealth; for those who are small in generosity, they will also regard wealth as a part of the completion of the two accumulations. Similarly, for those who have little patience, they will say some unpleasant words; for those who consider themselves clever and narrow-minded, they will show that there are many things to do and that they need to accomplish long-term things. In short, even if the nature of body, speech, and mind is without confusion and falsehood, they will constantly show various contradictions, therefore, one should not easily contact the body and speech without examination, and the mind will also appear to be troubled, in order to observe whether the other person's faith is firm.

Understand it. Furthermore, holy gurus with profound wisdom are never fathomed by others. Although they always perform various actions, it is only to tame sentient beings. Because their intention does not go beyond the profound Dharma nature of emptiness and bodhicitta. Therefore, for any action of the guru, it should be understood as a manifestation of great intention, thereby generating pure vision. Even a slight distrust should not be entertained, as it would disrupt the auspicious connection of the path. Whether the actions are peaceful or wrathful, benefiting others is the nature of holy beings, because it is the time when one's own benefit has been achieved, thereby benefiting others. Therefore, to accomplish the great goal of liberation, there is no other way than the guru who shows the path. So, endure any difficulties of the guru and practice with patience, just as worldly affairs also require enduring difficulties to accomplish. When seeking the path of liberation and relying on a guru, there are many unfavorable factors. When feelings of discouragement and turning away arise, Recognize it as a demon, and then again with great reverence, Like a treasure found, hold it on the crown of your head. When a holy guru is found, evil demons will strive to create obstacles, trying to create discord between teacher and student, making food, lodging, and favorable conditions difficult, setting up many obstacles on the path, and causing discouragement due to fear of immediate harm, generating wrong views about the guru and the Dharma, thereby causing many thoughts of turning away to arise. At this time, recognize it as a demon hindering one's own liberation, thereby abandoning it, and again rely on the guru with great reverence. As stated in the "Mother Tantra": Just as a precious jewel is cherished with great effort and enthusiasm because it has many enemies, when seeking the precious jewel of Prajnaparamita, evil demons will strive to create obstacles, trying to prevent hearing it, and will create various harms to separate people from virtuous friends, thereby causing discouragement and turning away. At that time, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva will think like this: Evil demons will destroy the virtuous...
