The rain falling from the sky above, as thick as a yoke and as thick as a plow handle, pervades the entire three thousand great thousand worlds. The falling rain melts everything below the second dhyana like salt dissolving in water, and remains together with the ashes of the burnt remains. Sentient beings are born in the realm of virtue before that. Having been purified by water, then being scattered in the ten directions by the wind, everything below the third dhyana will be destroyed. The indivisible particles of dust gather in the single space. Those residues previously purified by water are scattered in the ten directions by the wind, and everything below the third dhyana is destroyed, becoming particles without parts of dust, invisibly gathering in the state of one sky, remaining in a state of emptiness where nothing can be seen. In this way, destructions occur seven times in succession by fire, then once by water, and finally scattered once by wind. As it says in the Treasury of Knowledge: "Seven times by fire, once by water, and finally scattered by wind." In the process of the first dhyana and below being destroyed seven times by fire, the second dhyana will not be destroyed. When the second dhyana is destroyed by water, the third dhyana will not be destroyed. When the third dhyana is destroyed by wind, the fourth dhyana will not be destroyed. This is determined by the strength of the dhyana. Among them, the peak of destruction by fire is the second dhyana, everything below it will be burned, and everything above it will not be harmed. The peak of destruction by water is the third dhyana, everything below it will be washed away. The peak of destruction by wind is the fourth dhyana, everything below it will be scattered. Whichever is the peak, the fire, water, and wind that have reached that peak will not cause harm. According to the way of natural destruction, if the highest place is made the peak, then the peak of fire is the first dhyana, the peak of water is the second dhyana, and the peak of wind is the third dhyana. Even if the peak is reached, it will not collapse due to damage, therefore it is stable and solid, and is considered the best peak. To state the reasons or basis for destruction and non-destruction, that is, in the third dhyana, in order, investigation and analysis are like fire, joy and happiness are like water, and the inhalation and exhalation of breath are like wind. Possessing these three faults, it will be destroyed by the three elements. In the first dhyana and below, there are investigation and analysis, and the feelings of mind and mental factors are like fire.

says, "The corresponding element is destroyed by fire. The second dhyana has the bliss of dhyana like a stream of nectar, so it is destroyed by water. The third dhyana has the movement of breath like wind, so it is destroyed by wind." However, it is not like the coarse wind of the desire realm, because there is no coarse body with channels. Therefore, the nature of dhyana is also pure. However, since there is a part obtained from the pure subtle particles born from karmic results, there is a corresponding flow of breath. Similarly, whether yogis are harmed or not harmed by external enemies depends on whether these dhyanas are accomplished or not. Since this is the case, now, without the cessation of the thoughts of mind and mental factors, existing separately, with feelings of pleasure and displeasure, and with impure breath, wanting to abide in the state of mind of the Buddha, if even worldly dhyana is not accomplished, how can one expect to accomplish transcendental dhyana? Therefore, the key to the body is to naturally bind the flow of breath, thereby obtaining joy when dhyana arises, and because the consciousness of feeling disappears, the activity of mind and mental factors must cease, and the key lies in this. Like this, if one can practice dhyana and pacify its faults, then it is reasonable to generate supernormal powers and direct perception, etc. To prove that the higher dhyana is not destroyed, it is quoted: "The fourth dhyana is not destroyed by others, but due to its own karma, there is the appearance of death and transmigration." If the fourth dhyana is not harmed by fire, water, and wind, then why is that? Because the three faults of coarse thoughts of mind and mental factors, attachment to the taste of dhyana, and the nature of the moving wind do not shake the samadhi. Because these three faults and the corresponding elements do not cause harm, just as Lha sbyin (a proper name) has no enemy, so the weapon in the enemy's hand will not harm him. Then, among the five great elements, why are three destroyed and two not destroyed? Because space does not have the nature of a coarse victim and perpetrator, so there is no destroyer at all, and the understanding of destruction exists within the realm of the dharmadhatu. The reason why earth is not destroyed is that it is born as the object to be destroyed, but not born as the destroyer. Earth
