Having transformed, they ate it as food, and the soft cotton that came from the trees was worn as clothing. At that time, attachment arose from being satisfied with looking at each other and smiling, and beings also propagated greatly. Then, due to coarse food, the light diminished, and darkness arose due to the power of ignorance. The sun, moon, planets, and stars arose from shared karma. Day and night and other seasons came into being. With that food of essence, the body became hard and heavy, and due to the arising of afflictions, the light diminished, and darkness appeared in this world. This was the time when the dormant habit of ignorance truly arose. In this way, darkness appeared in the world, and the rising of the sun and moon is a natural law. Therefore, from the shared merit of all beings, the disc of the sun rose in the sky. Thinking, 'This is the light of the gods!' they called it 'day' and named it the sun. When it set, it was named night. Then, when the moon rose, (people) said, 'This is also its companion!' and named it the moon. When the moon rose, it was very cold, so it became cold. Everyone said in unison, 'It's too cold!' So the moon began to wane. Again, they said, 'Please appear bright!' So the moon began to grow, and the first day of the waxing and waning halves of the month began to grow and wane. Some teachers think that the shadow of the eclipse causes the moon to grow and wane, while others think that the inversion of the moon's surface causes the moon to grow and wane. These two views are not contradictory, because the first beings jointly made such a prayer, and the conditions such as the shadow of the eclipse are also the same. This is because being close to the sun, the moon's waning is caused by its own eclipse shadow, but from the surface (of the earth), the moon appears to be growing. The Treasury of Knowledge says: 'Due to being close to the sun, it appears to wane due to its own shadow.' Alternatively, (the moon) has one side of crystal and one side of beryl. So when the moon is waxing, the crystal side faces down and becomes brighter, while the beryl side becomes more deficient. On the fifteenth, it is completely inverted. From the sixteenth, when the moon is waning, the beryl side faces down and becomes larger. The empty beryl disc appears facing down, and because it blends with the color of the sky, it is invisible. Both of these explanations are stated in the scriptures. When the sun and moon rise, the planets and stars also rise as their retinue, moment, morning, afternoon, day, night, day, month, year

And so on, all those times occurred. Then gradually, the essence of the earth appeared, as well as the sprouts of vegetables, and rice without husks. At that time, those who ate a lot had ugly colors, and those who ate less had various colors because they were good. So, they mocked and belittled the ugly ones, praised and were arrogant towards the beautiful ones, and therefore jealousy arose. Because of the manifestation of arrogance and jealousy, the previous essence of the earth disappeared. Those sentient beings gathered together, saying "Alas, alas, the essence of the earth," and felt sad. After that, the essence of the earth appeared, red in color like the Dongga flower, and tasting like unrefined honey, and people enjoyed it for a long time. That also disappeared due to the manifestation of arrogance, and they felt sad as before. After that, the sprouts of vegetables, yellow in color like the Katampuka flower, were eaten and stayed for a long time. That is, if harvested during the day, it grows during the day; if harvested at night, it grows at night, so there is an inexhaustible harvest. Like before, it disappeared and they felt sad. After that, rice that grows on its own without plowing or sowing, without husks and clean, if harvested during the day, it grows at night; if harvested at night, it grows during the day, and people enjoy it for a long time. Like that, the coarse food made the paths of excrement and urine and the male and female organs also manifest well, and desire arose for embracing and the union of organs. Because of shame, a thatched house appeared. Those above are the Age of Perfection. The coarse food made the body strong, and the paths of excrement and urine and the doors of the male and female organs manifested truly and clearly. To cover those, they made lower skirts and clothes woven from cotton. At that time, because of mutual affection, the desire for embracing arose, and the doors of the two organs united and engaged in sexual activity, therefore they possessed sentient beings and became born from the womb. Like that, when engaging in sexual activity, others developed unsuitable minds and threw clods of earth, and spoke badly, therefore a mind of shame arose. They supported it with wood and stones, etc., and made a small house, therefore it was named the House of Shame. At that time, rain of nectar fell from the sky, and to protect the moisture, they covered it with thatch from above, therefore the earliest house appeared, the thatched hut. Then, from the rice fields, they harvested as much as needed, because of laziness.
