Great Dhyana. Among the four dhyanas, each one intermingles with the fourth dhyana most excellently. Practicing these dhyanas to transcendence is extremely great. Transcendence refers to practicing the fourth dhyana from abandoning certain parts of the four dhyanas to arising (of the four dhyanas). From bottom to top sequentially, or non-sequentially, from one to three, from top to bottom abandoning, practicing the fourth dhyana. By practicing in this way, one attains the states of not being great, not being distressed, wondrous manifestation, extremely visible, and Akanistha. After transcending all seventeen of these, the great Akanistha heaven is shown, which is a place of such kind. Above these is the ultimate state of existence. Akanistha is the adorned place of attaining the ten bhumis. It is pure and clear, and is completely perfect. In the formless realm, there is no place of actual manifestation. Beyond the five Pure Abodes, there is the place of the Great自在天. Those who have fully cultivated the ten bhumis, whatever they may be, will be born there. Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas transcend the five Pure Abodes, while Bodhisattva Aryas are even more superior, and their places are also distinguished accordingly. The four categories of the formless realm do not have the formation of substantial and manifest form, therefore, the formation of their places, whether coarse or subtle, does not exist. For those deva abodes of the form realm, the extent of the expanse corresponds to the four dhyanas respectively. The four continents, as well as one thousand, two thousand, and three thousand. It is shown up to the Great Fruit. The abodes of the five Pure Abodes are immeasurable in expanse. The expanse of the deva abode of the first dhyana is equal to the measure of one world of the four continents. The three deva abodes of the second dhyana, each one is the same as one world of the first thousandfold world system. The deva abodes of the third dhyana are the same as the intermediate two-thousandfold world system. The other three abodes besides the abode of the ordinary beings of the fourth dhyana are the same as the great three-thousandfold world system. The abodes of the five Pure Abodes are vast and immeasurable, existing like stars scattered in the sky and rainbows appearing. The height difference of these abodes starts from Jambudvipa. Up to the Four Great Kings and the Thirty-three. There are forty thousand yojanas and forty thousand yojanas. Below, from Jambudvipa to the top of Mount Meru holding the axle. The height of the sky where the fundamental palaces of the Four Great Kings are located is forty thousand yojanas upwards. From there to the top of Mount Meru, the Thirty-three

The distance between the three realms is also the same as this. Apart from the abodes of the gods who rely on the earth, from there to the Tushita (dga' ldan) abode, which is twice eighty thousand yojanas (dpal tshad brgyad khri). Measuring the part of one hundred and sixty thousand yojanas (chig 'bum drug khri), in the space that goes from top to top, how much is there from Jambudvipa ('dzam bu'i gling) to that place, with the distance calculated above, the height difference between it and Akanishta (og min) can be known. From the Thirty-three Heavens (sum cu rtsa gsum) to the Anavrata ( 'thab bral) there are eighty thousand yojanas, just as from Jambudvipa to there is a distance of one hundred and sixty thousand yojanas, from Anavrata to Tushita is also the same distance. The upper abodes are also all from Jambudvipa to their respective lower abodes, which is equal to the distance from the lower god abodes to Jambudvipa, so the distance to Akanishta is very high. The arrangement of abodes that abide in this way, the way to gather them into the three thousand great thousands of worlds is like this: The four continents, Mount Sumeru, the six desire realms and the Brahma world together are called the world of the four continents. It is surrounded by a circumference that is equal to the extent of the sun and moon's movement. The end of one of the four continents, Mount Sumeru, the six desire realms and the Brahma world together, is surrounded by a circumference of forty thousand yojanas, and decorated with the sun and moon, this is called the world of the four continents. The world of the four continents, the end of its thousandfold, is surrounded by iron mountains with the same height difference as the Thirty-three Heavens, is called the small thousand world. This is because there are a thousand of the four continents and Mount Sumeru, so it is called that. Counting it from one to two, placing a thousand in the middle thousand world, this is the middle thousand world, the same as Paranirmita-vasavartin, surrounded by iron mountains from all sides. There are millions of Mount Sumerus and suns and moons there. The middle thousand world. Gathering those thousand middle thousand worlds at the end of the three thousand great thousand worlds, surrounded by iron mountains that are the same as the Brahma realm, the four continents, Mount Sumeru up to the Brahma world, there are one hundred billion, that is, hundreds of millions of ten millions. The end of the thousand middle thousand worlds added together, is surrounded by the great circumference of the iron mountains, with the same height difference as the measure of the abode of the gods of the first Brahma realm, there are mountains and continents, and one hundred billion suns, that is, hundreds of millions of ten millions.
