From the Sutra of the Arrangement of the Tray of Food, the sound of the six syllables was extracted. Homage to the Buddha! Homage to the Dharma! Homage to the Sangha! Such a sound was emitted. When those sentient beings heard that sound, they remembered the Three Jewels, and all their actions and afflictions were destroyed by the vajra of wisdom. From their mouths came the fragrance of sandalwood, and they became Bodhisattvas named Sandalwood Fragrance, and were born in the Western Pure Land of Sukhavati. Therefore, listening has immeasurable benefits. If you want to become a Buddha, first seek listening, and then combine it with practice, and everything will become virtuous. As it is said in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: "There is nothing that the princes do not learn." For a learned person who has learned in this way, there is nothing that does not accumulate merit. As it is said. Vasubandhu said: "Based on discipline, possessing listening and thinking, one should diligently practice meditation." Remembering this, one should seek to reach the other shore of the ocean of listening. Even if those with dull faculties enter the profound path, they must hear its complete branches, therefore it is called "all listening." Just as when prescribing medicine, all the medicines are complete, it is called "complete collection of medicines." Therefore, listening is essential for any path, so it should be diligently practiced. From the Great Vehicle Upadesha treatise, The Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Treasury, the chapter on the Dharma of the Listener Disciple, that is, the extensive commentary on the eleventh chapter, is completed. Twelfth Chapter, Explanation of the Chapter on the Extensive Exposition of the Categories of Dharma to be Explained. Thus, after explaining how to listen, the next step is to ascertain the actual meaning of listening. According to the order just mentioned, next is the exposition of the Dharma to be ascertained. All phenomena of existence, samsara, and nirvana, are shown as inner and outer by the power of abandonment and adoption. Moreover, the word "Dharma" comes from the Sanskrit word "dharma" (藏文:དྷརྨའི་,梵文天城体:धर्म,梵文罗马拟音:dharma,汉语字面意思:法), which refers to the basis that can be understood through wisdom, and after understanding, one can engage in acceptance and rejection, and after entering, one can obtain the desired meaning. In this context, it refers to the worldly Dharma of samsara, which should be abandoned after understanding, and the supramundane Dharma of nirvana, which should be practiced after understanding, both of which are the cause and effect.

In short, this is what is being taught. Among these, there are three aspects to the Dharma that clings to illusory appearances: The essence is the nature of being completely deluded by clinging to reality. The definition is that when the vessel of the world is destroyed, sentient beings rely on illusion, and each accomplishes their desires according to their own wishes, therefore it is called worldly Dharma. The classification includes gods, humans, asuras who have not entered the worldly path of ordinary children or any philosophical system, as well as hell beings, pretas, animals, and outsiders who have entered into wrong views. These are also as stated in the 'Eighty Chapters of Magical Illusion': 'Six destructions and six supports, Knowing the six realms of the world, To that is called the world.' And as stated in the 'Lamp Illuminating': 'The worldly and the transcendent, Which is superior, the transcendent.' Furthermore, in the 'Secret Essence of Magical Illusion', it says: 'Non-realization and inverted realization, Partial realization, non-realization of truth, The secret of discipline's intention, And the meanings of the secret of nature.' Therefore, just as it is taught from the doctrines of the Tirthikas to the unsurpassed yoga of the inner Buddhist tantras, here too, a definitive conclusion will be made. Although there are many classifications and summaries, according to the 'Root Tantra of the Wheel of Time': 'It also transforms into two types, Outsiders and insiders, the two.' Based on this, there are two types: detailed differentiation of the philosophical systems of the Tirthikas, and extensive explanation of the doctrines of the inner Buddhist teachings. First, regarding the Tirthika schools: There are the six teachers and twenty mundane views, sixty-two wrong views, three hundred and sixty, eleven schools, and the five Hetu-vidya schools that encompass everything. That is to say, there are many schools and classifications of those who have turned away from the Buddhist path to become outsiders, claiming that previous teachers have attained liberation, and are indulging in deviant paths. But there are the six teachers and views on mundane matters, sixty-two wrong views, three hundred and sixty, eleven definite schools, and the five Hetu-vidya schools that encompass everything, which are explained in six aspects in total. First, the six teachers are: Pūraṇa Kassapa, Makkhali Gosāla, Ajita Kesakambalī, Pakudha Kaccāyana, Sañjaya Belaṭṭhiputta, and Nigaṇṭha Nāṭaputta. Each clings to their own views and constantly slanders each other. Among them, the first, Pūraṇa Kassapa, the son of Ghoṇa, is about past and future lives and karma.
