Offered to five thousand, accumulated merits for countless kalpas, and perfected countless purifications. The scripture says: From Buddha Shakyamuni to the guide Dhritarashtra, I have offered to the complete seventy-five thousand Buddhas. Then, from Buddha Well-Made onwards, up to Lord Banner, seventy-six thousand were offered, and two countless were perfected. The scripture says: From Buddha Well-Made onwards, up to Lord Banner, the capable one, I have offered to the complete seventy-six thousand Buddhas. Then, from Dipamkara to Kashyapa, seventy-seven thousand were offered, and three countless were perfected. The scripture says: From Buddha Dipamkara onwards, I have offered to all the Buddhas of light. From Dipamkara up to Ratnaketu, the first countless was perfected. Then, from Dipamkara upwards, the second birth was perfected. Then, from Vipashyin upwards, it is said that the third was perfected. Vipashyin, Dipamkara, Ratnaketu, appeared at the end of the three countless, the first was Shakyamuni. According to the Mahayana, Vipashyin appeared after Shakyamuni, born as the Brahmin boy Shakya'u, attained the first bhumi. Up to Dipamkara, he was born as the Brahmin Dharma Cloud, attained the eighth bhumi. Ratnaketu appeared last, born as the Brahmin Yellow, attained the tenth bhumi. Moreover, Buddha Vipashyin appeared ninety-one kalpas ago from now, when the lifespan of beings was eighty thousand years. Among the thousand Buddhas of the Fortunate Aeon, he was born as a thousand monks, practiced celibacy, and they were prophesied to attain Buddhahood in the Fortunate Aeon. In particular, Shakyamuni showed how he was born as the Brahmin Shakya, and also showed that the householder Endowed with Intelligence also became the grass merchant Auspicious. Like this, from the countless seventy-five thousand Buddhas to Vipashyin, by making offerings, the three pure grounds were perfected, the third countless was perfected, the ultimate path was traversed, the ten pure grounds were attained, and then abiding in the fire of cessation, praised the Tathagata Star King, asceticism.

Relying on that, one arrives at the city of Nyerden. Then, finally, in the time of the Buddha Light Protector, one becomes a Brahmin boy, becoming a lama, accumulating merit for one kalpa, completing all tasks from the ground up, perfecting all the paths of accumulation. Thus, one accumulates merit for three countless kalpas. Some sutras of the Lesser Vehicle say that one cannot attain Buddhahood with three countless kalpas, saying that it takes thirty-six. That is, the paths of accumulation and application, two sets of three countless kalpas, make six. Then, from the first bhumi to the tenth bhumi, each bhumi requires three countless kalpas, totaling thirty-six to attain Buddhahood. Like that and so on, the duration of accumulating merit is mentioned differently in various scriptures, such as three, seven, ten, and thirty-six countless kalpas. It is also said to be thirteen. Among these, three countless kalpas appear in most scriptures, and the meaning of countless is also explained in many commentaries on the Abhidharmakosha and Thubpa Gonggyen (Ornament of the Sage's Thought), etc. It does not refer to countless beyond counting, but to countless after counting sixty numerical places. The numbers are: one, ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand, million, ten million, hundred million, billion. Know that it is separate. Although there are one or two differences between the numerical places in the Dharma Origin of Omniscient Buton Rinpoche and this, here this is taken as the main one.

Great sign, power wheel, great power wheel. Indication, great indication, manifestation, great manifestation, ra ta, great ra ta, power eye, great power eye. Excellence, great excellence, destruction, great destruction, deception, great deception, severance, great severance, what need is there to say countless in the end? Here, those who are quick in diligence attain Buddhahood in three countless eons. Among them, the path of accumulation and the path of joining require one countless eon, from the first bhumi to the seventh bhumi requires one countless eon, from the eighth bhumi to the Buddha bhumi requires one countless eon. Thus, it takes three countless eons to complete the path of the bhumis. There are also three types of bhumis: essence, definition, and classification. The essence is abiding and stable, hence it is called bhumi. The definition is that it is the first of the ten powers, and because it is extremely joyful in accomplishing the meaning of sentient beings, it is called the Extremely Joyful Bhumi, and so on. There are three classifications: the bhumi of ordinary beings, the bhumi of Bodhisattvas, and the bhumi of Buddhas. The first has three: the bhumi of faith practice, the bhumi of Buddhas. The first has three: the bhumi of faith practice, the bhumi of the path of accumulation, and the bhumi of the path of joining. The definitions of these three are: first, generate the mind of aspiration, and practice with faith, hence it is faith practice. The path of accumulation is abandoning non-virtue, and accumulating merit by listening to virtuous friends through the three doors of body, speech, and mind. The path of joining is: relying on the instructions of the guru, combining the nature of phenomena, which is without characteristics, with those that have characteristics, hence it is called the path of joining. The Bodhisattva bhumis have ten bhumis: from the first bhumi, the Extremely Joyful Bhumi, to the Cloud of Dharma Bhumi. There are three Buddha bhumis: Universal Light, Lotus Eye, and the Bhumi of the Wheel of Letters. Among them, Universal Light is the result of the inseparability of realm and wisdom, which is the Dharmakaya. Lotus Eye is the unceasing manifestation of various Nirmanakayas from the nature of the Dharmakaya, which is the Sambhogakaya. The Bhumi of the Great Assembly of the Wheel of Letters is symbolized by the five syllables such as དཔའོ་ (藏文,梵文Deva,梵文罗马拟音Deva,天), and the Nirmanakaya appears to tame beings according to how they appear. Now, the path will be shown, and that is also essence, definition, and classification. The essence is that it is traversed, hence it is called the path. The definition is that one goes by relying on it. On the path
