In the state of the remaining residue, because there is a slight impurity of latent habits, mistaken appearances are seen, such as physical discomfort. They believe that the current state of mind, where afflictions and wisdom are mixed, can manifest pure wisdom without residue by eliminating the false aspects of afflictions. The pure ones believe that even the false appearances of phenomena and consciousness are not established. Because attachment to appearances arises from being accustomed to using the mind from a young age, just as the appearance of its face arises clearly in awareness without needing to think. Therefore, the appearance of objects appears in various colors, and the measuring wisdom both seem to be non-existent, like an image. They believe that the self-cognizant wisdom of each individual who experiences its meaning is the only thing that truly exists. Secondly, the Madhyamaka school is divided into Svatantrika and Prasangika. First, the Svatantrika school believes that not only are the various phenomena that appear and the clear awareness without a measurer, but also, ultimately, the self-cognizant wisdom of each individual is also empty of inherent existence. This school is further divided into those who believe that illusion is ultimate and those who believe that it is completely non-existent. The first believes that objects and subjects are not established, but the unestablished self-cognizant wisdom is inexpressible and inconceivable, existing ultimately in the manner of an illusion. Therefore, through the merit of practice, one attains the realization of the paths and bhumis, and ultimately attains the illusory wisdom of the Buddha, and benefits beings in the realm of the Dharmakaya in an illusory way. As it is said in the Madhyamaka-karika: 'All dharmas are like dreams and illusions, Nirvana is also like dreams and illusions. If there is something superior to Nirvana, that is also like dreams and illusions.' All dharmas refer to all kinds of objects and consciousness. Nirvana refers to benefiting beings after obtaining the Rupakaya. The dharma that is superior to that refers to the Suchness of each individual's self-cognizance and the pure Dharmakaya. They believe that there are also those who believe that illusion is real, those who believe that illusion is apparent, and those who believe that it is merely illusion, etc., with many categories, and are known as the Lower Svatantrika. The second believes that even illusion does not exist ultimately, because objects and phenomena do not exist.

Just as a barren woman has no wisdom to recognize a son because she has no son, there is no self-awareness that experiences without discrimination. Because there is no truth in the conventional, nothing exists in the ultimate. Just as the appearance of horses and cattle disappears when one awakens from a dream, but because there was nothing in the beginning, it does not establish as something to be eliminated in reality. As the Middle Length Mother Sutra says: In the ultimate, there is neither samsara nor nirvana, nor emptiness; it is merely a verbal decoration. This is how they believe. For this, there are countless categories such as the conventional not being established at all, the reason not being established, the contradiction not being established, the cause of contradiction not being established, one not being established, many not being established, being separate from one and many not being established, mere appearance not being established at all, and so on. These are known as the higher Madhyamaka Svatantrika. The Madhyamaka Prasangika is that, like that, everything such as not being established in the ultimate and merely appearing as illusion in the conventional is all refuted, and they believe in a nature that is beyond the extremes of existence and non-existence, and is free from all commitments. As the Noble Samadhiraja Sutra says: Permanence and impermanence are also extremes, existence and non-existence are both extremes, therefore, having completely abandoned both extremes, the wise do not abide even in the middle. And, as the Ratnamegha Sutra says: The Tathagata always abides in the unborn Dharma, all Dharmas are the same as the Sugata, because childish beings grasp at signs, they practice Dharmas that do not exist in the world. And, as the Fundamental Wisdom says: Because of dependent arising, there is no cessation and no birth, no discontinuity and no permanence, no coming and no going, neither different meaning nor one meaning, the pacification of elaboration is pacified, the Buddhas speak of such Dharma, I prostrate to that excellent one. And, as the Vigrahavyavartani says: If I had any thesis, then I would have this fault, but since I have no thesis, therefore I alone am without fault. And, since there is no Dharma to be abandoned, I also do not establish anything, therefore you now, destroy me with slander. They believe that because of the pacification of elaboration, there is no sect established by discrimination. Various
