Therefore, one obtains the fruit of the twelve bhumis. Meditate on the eight aspects of impurity. Having gone to the charnel ground, contemplate one's own body in this way: First, contemplate the body as turning blue. Then, contemplate the body as turning red. And contemplate it as turning black. Likewise, contemplate the body as becoming swollen. Likewise, contemplate the body as infested with worms. Contemplate the body as scattered. Likewise, contemplate the body as turning white. This is the antidote to attachment. Meditate on the eight aspects of impurity. There is no hearing or learning, therefore it is called the Pratyekabuddha Vehicle. Thus it is. Third, establishing the Bodhisattva Vehicle, there are two parts: how it surpasses the Lesser Vehicle, and explaining the particularly superior Vehicle itself. First, it is distinguished by realizing the two, skillful means and great compassion, and wisdom of selflessness. As it says in the Ratnavali: "Emptiness possessing the essence of compassion, is for some who accomplish enlightenment." And: "It is only through compassion that one connects the realms of existence up to enlightenment." In the Hearer Vehicle, the aspiration and practice of the Bodhisattva, and the dedication are not explained. How could it become the Great Vehicle? And in the Compendium it says: "Without skillful means and separated from wisdom, one falls into the Hearer ground." It is extensively taught thus. Second, there are five parts: The nature of the Bodhisattva Vehicle is that all phenomena are realized as being like space, and it is the cause or supreme means for practicing vast benefit for others through great compassion. As it says in that very text: "This vehicle is like space, a great immeasurable mansion, it is the supreme vehicle that obtains joy, happiness and bliss. Whoever rides it eliminates the suffering of all sentient beings. Therefore, it is called the Great Vehicle." The definition is that it is the Great Vehicle because it leads to the supreme city of liberation by relying on which skillful means. The need is to enable those with supreme intelligence to attain Buddhahood. The fruit is the accomplishment of the eleventh, the All-Illuminating Ground. Although there are many divisions, here, in this context, there are two: a brief presentation of the nature of the general path, and an extensive explanation of the tenets of each established school. The first is the path for those with sharp faculties and great mental strength, according to the system of the Characteristic Vehicle. That is, one should know the nature of the two truths, the basis. Having known it, how to practice

Acceptance. There are three aspects to showing the fruit of the perfected path. The first is: all phenomena encompassed by appearance and existence, samsara and nirvana, are contained within the nature of the two truths. As it says in the Root Wisdom: "The Buddhas teach the Dharma, relying truly on the two truths, the conventional truth of the world, and the truth of the ultimate meaning." And in the Magical Illusion it says: "Abiding in the manner of the two truths." Therefore, whatever appears as an object of consciousness, capable of appearing in the realm of the mind, is the conventional truth. If divided, there are two types: false and true conventional truths. The first is that all phenomena of appearance and existence, the environment and beings, and everything constructed by the mind, are false conventional truths because the object is a deceptive appearance, and the mind appears as a false entity. These things that appear as imputed are perceived by a deluded mind as corresponding to reality, capable of performing functions, and when examined, are devoid of inherent existence, like the eight similes of illusion. Non-existent things arise as clear appearances. As it says in the former: "Like a dream, like an illusion, like a city of gandharvas, likewise is birth, likewise is dwelling, likewise is destruction spoken of." The true conventional truth is: "Although appearing as delusion, it is the cause of happiness and liberation, the ten virtuous actions are completely pure, the accumulation of merit such as generosity, and the samadhi of the mind in the four paths of accumulation, preparation, seeing, and meditation, capable of being the cause of wisdom, the object of the mind, all contained within the path truth." As it says in the commentary on the Uttaratantra: "All path truths are conditioned, and all conditioned things are conventional." The nature of phenomena abiding in its own nature, the essence of emptiness, and the wisdom that measures it, along with the aspect of pacification, is the ultimate truth. If divided, there are two types: the ultimate truth of names and characteristics, and the ultimate truth of the true nature without names and characteristics. The first is the wisdom that, through rational analysis and examination, realizes that the nature of phenomena, which cannot be established in anything, has always been present in everything, and arises in accordance with that nature. As it says in the Two Truths: "Cessation of birth etc. is ultimate, it is also accepted because it accords with that, in the unborn, all elaboration is pacified, the term 'ultimate' is established." The second is that phenomena, from the very beginning, are free from the elaboration of existence and non-existence.
