In the tantra of Gapa Rangshar Chenpo, it is said: "Kyeho, Secret Vajra Holder! My vehicle is inconceivable, but it is summarized into two ways of speaking: samsara and nirvana." Thus it is said. Therefore, here there are two types: the worldly vehicle and the transcendental vehicle. The first also has five aspects: the nature of the vehicle, the definition, the classification, the necessity, and the result. The nature is any category of mind that does not transcend samsara, which aims at the obtainable result and exists in the meaning of the term that defines the category. The definition is: it is connected and established only with the worldly goodness. The classification is: the vehicle of maintaining the original state and the vehicle of inversion. The necessity is: to accomplish one's own result. The result is: when that result of one's own is manifested by that method. Among them, the vehicle of gods and humans that maintains the original state is the method of achieving the happiness of gods and humans in the future by accumulating karma that is in accordance with merit, such as abiding in the ten virtues and fasting. Whatever accomplishment one enters into, it becomes the basis, therefore it is called the vehicle of maintaining the original state. In the Great Tantra of Vajrasattva Mayajala, it is said: "The first of the vehicles is the vehicle of gods and humans." The inverted vehicle, in the Rangshar, it says: "The inverted vehicle is like this, believing in three hundred and sixty aggregates." Therefore, this has two aspects: generally showing the nature of permanence and annihilation, and specifically explaining its categories. The first has two aspects: clinging to permanence and clinging to annihilation. The first is that although there are many different views according to the systems of the outsiders, the Samkhya school, which asserts that the cause is permanent, is the root of all views, so it is explained first: The nature of the equal division of the three, substance, darkness, and power, is called the self, and it exists in the hearts of all sentient beings, its shape corresponding to the size of the body, the large ones being the size of a thumb, the small ones from a pea pod to a mustard seed, and even smaller like the tip of a sesame seed, etc. It is white, oily, round, indestructible and unbreakable, the nature that no one can see, is hidden. Now, substance, darkness, and power, that is, when the three, desire, hatred, and ignorance, are equally divided, one can recognize its nature by oneself, it is an invisible nature. Later

Regarding liberation, they believe that liberation appears to have color and shape, just like a white umbrella surrounded above the heavens. Now, because they do not understand its unwavering nature, the essence of non-action, the object consumed by the senses, and the nature of constant existence, they wander in samsara. If they understand and do not stray from its essence, they will be liberated. Even in this life, if they practice offerings and other virtuous deeds well, in the next life they will be born in a place of wealth, with a perfect retinue and enjoyments. That is what they believe. From this, many different schools have branched out. As it says in the *Entering the Bodhisattva's Way* (Bodhicaryāvatāra): "The enjoyer is permanent and real, not the agent; qualities are inactive; so reckon the Enumerators. Relying slightly on their distinctions, the tenets of the Tirthikas (non-Buddhists) have become diverse." So it is. Those who assert annihilationism are the Lokayatas (Charvakas). They believe that apart from the present experiences of seeing, hearing, pleasure, and pain, there is no past or future life, no cause and effect of karma, and no liberation, etc. This annihilationism is further divided into two types: the annihilation of cause and the annihilation of effect. The first is that some naked ascetics, such as the son of Nigandha, believe that the previous mind is not the present mind, because the four elements have a mind that exists by nature. It is covered by the four elements and becomes invisible. When it encounters conditions such as warmth and moisture, the latent mind of nature arises, and a new mind enters the new body, thus forming a sentient being. Moreover, because the earth has a latent mind of nature, it can grow plants and forests, etc. Because water has a latent mind of nature, it can produce moisture, movement, and sound. Because fire has a latent mind of nature, it can burn and incinerate. Because wind has a latent mind of nature, it can produce movement and support. Therefore, trees, stones, and coarse objects all have minds. If they collide with each other, they will make a sound; if they are thrown, they will move; some trees shrink their leaves at night and expand during the day; if the bark is peeled off, they will dry out and regrow, etc. Therefore, if beings have karma and mind from previous lives, then trees, etc., should also have previous lives. But this is not the case; they are sudden, like mushrooms sprouting from a gathering of grass. How is it manifested? Because of the warmth and moisture of summer.
