like a dream. Divisions: The desire realm includes the four continents, etc.; the form realm is like the five lights, self-illuminating rainbows; the formless realm is like self-emanated samadhi, invisible to others. As stated in the "Union of Sun and Moon": "The realms encompassed by the inner mind are twofold:" "The vessel realm that gathers sentient beings, and the realm that arises from the nature of mind itself. The vessel realm is: the form realm arising from the great basis of sentient beings' memory; the formless realm arising from increased memory; and the desire realm arising from distinct clinging to memory." Secondly, the natural arising from the luminosity of the inner mind is: because there is awareness, the obscuring self-power of ignorance, the alaya, and the mind of the alaya-consciousness that depends on it, and the arising of the five sense consciousnesses and the mind, are like a palm tree growing on a golden ground, producing branches, flowers, and leaves. Dividing this, there are three: object, sense consciousness, and feeling. Object: In this context, it is designated as the object of the preceding consciousness of the six consciousnesses, merely as the present object, and therefore it is spoken of by the names of the six sense bases. The sense bases are also understood by the term "base" such as the eye, etc., so the consciousness is designated as the six realms such as the eye, etc. Sense consciousness is the present six consciousnesses such as the eye, etc. Feeling is the future aspect, i.e., the six aspects. Whatever object the consciousness enters, if there is a continuity of any of the preceding six consciousnesses, it is called an object. The moment it grasps its aspect, it is the present consciousness. After that, feeling any of the three, pleasure, pain, or neutrality, is called the feeling of contact. This is because the object and consciousness combine and feel its aspect. Thus, the three sets of six are divided into eighteen categories, as stated in that very text: "The realms arising from the nature of mind are: the eye realm arising from the self-illuminating aspect of consciousness; the ear realm arising from the one-pointedness of consciousness; the nose realm arising from the infinity of consciousness; the tongue realm arising from the gathering of all consciousnesses into one; the mind realm arising from the all-pervading activity of consciousness; the body realm arising from being the support of all consciousnesses; and the name

Because I am attached to color, it is the realm of eye consciousness; because it grasps accomplished actions, it is the realm of ear consciousness; because it grasps following others, it is the realm of nose consciousness; because it experiences things, it is the realm of tongue consciousness; because it pervades all things and non-things, it is the realm of mind consciousness; because it gathers all meanings, it is the realm of body consciousness; because it grasps the inverted perception of things and accomplishes objects, it is the realm of contact arising from the gathering of the eye faculty; because the ear faculty holds and accomplishes scattering, it is the realm of contact arising from the gathering of the ear faculty; because it gathers the upper consciousnesses together and makes others yearn for it, it is the realm of contact arising from the gathering of the nose faculty; because it grasps things and draws them near, it is the realm of contact arising from the gathering of the tongue faculty; because it gathers all memories together and enters all objects, it is the realm of contact arising from the gathering of the mind faculty; because it grasps many gross things and gathers the elements, it is the realm of contact arising from the gathering of the body faculty. Therefore, these realms also grasp objects. This arises from the part that clings to delusion itself." Second, as the basis, the nature of the aggregates, like gathering and piling up, is called aggregates from the part that gathers into one. There are two types: aggregates with conceptualization and aggregates without conceptualization. The first is: the five aggregates of sentient beings in the contaminated world, namely: the form aggregate that can be destroyed and broken; the feeling aggregate that experiences and generates craving; the perception aggregate that moves and enters objects; the formation aggregate that creates and generates habitual tendencies; and the consciousness aggregate that cognizes and acts as an object. The aggregates without conceptualization are: the five aggregates of the noble ones who have transcended the world, each abiding in their own part of awareness, namely: the nature of tranquility and insight, the aggregate of samadhi; the aggregate of wisdom that is liberated from their respective afflictions; the aggregate of prajna that sees the nature of self and others; the aggregate of morality that is completely purified from the side of defilements; and free from elaboration and conceptualization.
