Also, it exists in a triple structure between the heart and lungs. Then it flows from the veins, the life force arises from the veins, the doors emerge from the mouth and nose, from which arise eighty thousand afflictions, and various afflictions such as these. Thus it is said. In the Vajrasattva Heart Mirror Tantra, it says: In all sentient beings who are sustained by life, the affliction called ignorance mostly resides. It relies on the form aggregate as its basis and resides between the heart and lungs. Moreover, ignorance does not exist alone; it is adorned by what is called "mind," which gathers all habitual tendencies. Within it, what is called "intellect" exists together with the conceptualization of objects. When these three unite, it is called ignorance, which is samsara itself. From this arise the five poisons and six emotions, from which arise eighty thousand afflictions. If one asks from which path these arise, in the middle connecting the lungs and heart, there is a vein called the red life vein, which ascends inside like the size of a bird's marrow tube. It ascends along the edge of the vertebrae, and its small tip is connected to the left side. These travel riding on the horse of breath. It travels from the mouth and nose, from which arise various actions and afflictions. At the apex between the heart and lungs, from the lungs, the horse vein of breath enters there, and from the heart, the vein of luminous awareness enters there, these two combine. From the mixture of breath and luminous awareness, the mind, which is the gatherer of habitual tendencies; the intellect, which conceptualizes objects; and ignorance, which relies on consciousness—these three, which are of one essence but have different aspects, reside on the horse of breath. From this, the conceptual thoughts of grasping and being grasped, which are afflictions, are established as what is called samsara. If one realizes this, because it is adventitious, it is easy to destroy. If one does not realize it, because it has been habitual from beginningless time, it is difficult to separate. Regarding it being adventitious, in the Hevajra Tantra, it says: Sentient beings are themselves Buddhas, but they are obscured by adventitious stains. When these are removed, they are themselves Buddhas. Thus it is said. In the Pramāṇavārttika, it says: The nature of mind is clear light, stains are adventitious. Thus it is said. Conceptual thought is ignorance, therefore it accumulates for a long time and is the cause of samsara. In the Praise to Manjushri, it says: Conceptual thought is great ignorance, it is what causes one to fall into the ocean of samsara.

It is. Since it is free from that conceptual thought, you are always in peace. Thus it is. Second, explaining the nature of wisdom in detail: From the Ornament of Clear Realization: Wisdom is not conceptual thought, The meaning of essence, self-luminous and clear. The distinctions are considered to be three. The definition is the meaning of being originally present. Knowing now is wisdom. Thus it is said. This has four aspects: essence, definition, distinction, and individual meanings. First, the essence of wisdom is that each individual's awareness is originally present in the realm of knowledge. From the same text: Wisdom is said to abide, By understanding its characteristics, It does not abide in samsara or nirvana. Thus it is. The definition is to realize and know the meaning of being originally present. From Rangshar: Originally, the nature is spontaneously accomplished. From there, realization manifests. The definition of wisdom is the same. Thus it is. If distinguished, there are three types: the wisdom of the base, the wisdom of grasping characteristics, and the wisdom that pervades objects. From the Garland of Pearls: Wisdom itself is like this: The wisdom of the pure base, Grasping characteristics and pervading objects. Thus it is. First, the wisdom of the base has three aspects. The wisdom of the essence of original purity is like the sky, beyond the extremes of existence and non-existence. From the Ornament of Clear Realization: In the wisdom of the essence of original purity, There is no name for ignorance or existence. There is no number of one or two. By analysis, existence and non-existence cannot be established. In the nature of what is not divided, Even mere wisdom cannot be established. There is no word, and it cannot be expressed. Self-aware and pure, not abiding in extremes. The end of words, grasping, and names is exhausted. In the countless causes and conditions, There are no dualistic appearances of objects and subjects. Characteristics are not divided anywhere. Coarse objects and conditions are self-exhausted. Pure because it is originally non-existent, pure because it is pure. Because delusion and conceptual thought have ceased, it does not do anything. Because it is unborn, it is empty and still. Thus it is. The wisdom of spontaneously accomplished nature is that qualities are complete from the beginning, so it is accomplished with skill and planning. The nature of appearing like a wish-fulfilling jewel is empty of entities and characteristics. Again, from the same text: The wisdom of spontaneously accomplished nature, Does not arise, does not cease, is inconceivable, Because objects are not definite. Because skill and qualities are without cessation, It appears only as play, It is the basis for the completion of various things. Empty because it is non-existent, apparent because it is empty.
