As the basis, pervader, and essence of all ignorance in times of karmic delusion, like a boat. Filled with many people deluded by mind, mental factors, karma, and habitual tendencies. As it says in Rangshar: "The analogy for the alaya and the dharmakaya is like the ocean and a boat, the source of the path. Like sleeping and waking, because there is a difference in the senses." Therefore, stainless awareness, as the essence of the dharmakaya, is not something to be reversed at any time and exists as the ultimate basis for liberation. The alaya, like sleep, is the basis for all the dream-like appearances of delusion to arise, so it must be awakened from, thus the difference is very great. Therefore, although sleep and dreams need to be reversed, one's own awareness does not need to be reversed. The dharmakaya is the basis to be realized, its state should be habituated, and it should be recognized as the place of liberation as the result. The alaya and the phenomena that depend on it should be known as impurities to be purified. Second, the detailed explanation is divided into two parts: a detailed explanation of the alaya and the dharmakaya. The first part is: In the Ornament of Clear Realization, it says: "The key points of the alaya and the dharmakaya, now briefly explain the alaya. It is the basis of all dharma and non-dharma, including essence, definition, and classification. The essence is the container of all habitual tendencies, the classification includes body, combination, diversity, and the original basis. The definition is all that is gathered, the basis is the collection and so on." Thus it is said. Therefore, there are five aspects of the alaya: essence, definition, classification, function, and the reason for the application of sound. First, the essence is: as the container of all conditioned virtuous, purified, and samsaric phenomena, including habitual tendencies. The definition is: Kun (ཀུན།, Sanskrit: sarva, all), is many; Gzhi (གཞི།, Sanskrit: āśraya, basis), is the gathering place of many or exists as a basis. The classification has four types: the alaya of original meaning, the alaya of combined meaning, the alaya of the habitual body, and the alaya of habitual diversity. The first is: the basis of the original limit of all samsaric phenomena, the ignorance associated with the initial discriminating movement of awareness, described from the perspective of opposition. The second is: from the perspective that awareness itself, if one is not aware, will combine with samsara, and if one is aware, will combine with nirvana. The third is: because the fundamental awareness itself has the habitual tendencies of the body, it is described from the perspective of the appearance of blood, light, and the mind-made body. The fourth is: awareness

It is described from the aspect of its being the basis of all impure karma and habitual tendencies. Although four names are mentioned, it refers to the distinction of four different aspects of one consciousness. Thus, from the initial state of movement until now, the basis of all consciousness is the ālaya, and the eight aggregates that depend on it also exist in separate aspects. If the aspects are distinguished separately, then the basis for the opening manifestation of the root saṃsāra is the primordial meaning, the connecting meaning connects to saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, the body appears as the body, and the habitual tendencies of mind depend on the four ālaya. At that time, because the form of consciousness exists, there is no boundary between inside and outside, so it is called the ālaya-vijñāna. From that, for the five sense consciousnesses, because each consciousness apprehends the five objects without conceptualization, they are called the five gate consciousnesses. At that time, because of the inwardly directed speculation, it initially encounters it, so it is the mind consciousness; by discriminating and distinguishing the various differences, it is considered to be real. Know that the different aspects of one mind are different. Doing (Tibetan: བྱེད་པས་), therefore (Tibetan: ཙ): Primordial (Tibetan: ཡེ,梵文天城体:ये,IAST:ye,Literal meaning: Primordial) is the basis of delusion. Connecting (Tibetan: སྦྱོར་བས་) connects body and mind, producing the common connection of happiness and suffering. The body (Tibetan: ལུས་ཀྱིས་) is the cause of the body and its many aggregates of dharmas. Habitual tendencies (Tibetan: བག་ཆགས་ཀྱིས་) are the accumulators and causes of karma and afflictions. The reason why the word applies is: the connection between the past and future of habitual tendencies, the relationship between the past and future of the maturation of karma, the sequence of cause and effect, and the bondage of universal connection. Therefore, the word "ālaya" is applicable. Second, the detailed explanation of the dharmakāya: In the *Abhisamayālaṃkāra* it says: The dharmakāya is free from elaboration, without the characteristic of self-grasping, its essence is emptiness and clarity, indivisible, divided into the three bodies of dharma, enjoyment, and emanation, distinguished by the three. The definition is: dharma is the correct path, the body is accomplished from that. Thus it is said. The essence, definition, distinction, function, and reason for the application of the word of the dharmakāya, these five aspects. First, the essence is: the manifestation of the subtle wisdom of the original, primordial purity, great luminosity, self-existing nature, and abiding in the sound of it at the time of delusion, therefore, realizing with non-conceptual wisdom and experience, that is it. Just as it itself says: There are two ways of abiding, abiding in the original basis, and the realm of delusion.
