It is not composed of entity and characteristics. Its nature, primordial purity, is clear as light, yet it does not appear as external colored patterns. Although it abides in the wisdom of compassion and awareness, it does not judge external objects with discriminating thoughts. This is the co-existence of essence, nature, and compassion. As it is said, in the 'Self-Arisen': 'Before I existed, the ground existed in this way. The ground is called the Great Primordial Purity, and essence, nature, and compassion exist in three aspects.' The essence is the unchanging wisdom, clear without cessation, and is called the state of the youthful vase body. The nature is the uninterrupted appearance of the five lights. The appearance of compassion is like a cloudless sky.' Also, as it is said in the 'Decisive': 'In the essence of primordial purity wisdom, ignorance is called existence nameless ○ཕ, there is no number of one or two. Upon examination with discriminating thought, existence and non-existence are not established. In the nature of that which has not been differentiated, even awareness is not established. There are no words, and no expression is established. Not abiding at the extremes, self-aware and self-knowing. The grasping of speech, the boundary of names is exhausted. In the absence of cause and condition, there is no number. There is no duality of object and subject. There is no differentiation in any characteristic. The grossness of the subject ○བ is exhausted. From the beginning, it is absent, therefore it is pure. Since delusion and conceptualization have ceased, there is no action. Since it is unborn, it is cessation and emptiness. The spontaneously accomplished wisdom of nature, is unborn and unceasing, and needs no intention. Because there is no object or certainty. Because skill and qualities are without cessation. Appearing only in play, it is the root of all perfections. Because it is absent, it appears, and because it appears, it is empty. Possessing the limb of the union of appearance and emptiness. Buddhas and sentient beings are all objects. Thus, the ground manifestly exists. Existing only as nature. From the perspective of essence, it is empty upon examination. Because the limbs are developed, wisdom is perfected. Because it is self-abiding and spontaneously accomplished. There is no acceptance or rejection here. From the wisdom of all-pervading compassion, the gate of various appearances arises without action. Appearing as action, it is complete in essence. From the nature of the empty essence of the Dharmakaya, the aspect of the perfection of awareness and wisdom. Naturally appearing to sentient beings. Without it, samsara and nirvana would be cut off. Knowing and clarifying with wisdom. From the nature of self-awareness and clarity, the compassion of nature arises naturally. Without cessation, and without extinction. From the aspect of the purification of the elements, without action, everything is complete in one.'

Like the light of the sun, the self-nature is originally without obscuration. From that, the five wisdoms of the Sambhogakaya, which possess characteristics, arise. From the mirror-like wisdom of reflections, shapes and colors appear completely. White and pure, it shines because it is free from impurities, self-nature manifests and combines samsara and nirvana. Because the forms of all dharmas appear, it is called self-awareness wisdom. Clear and empty, liberated by emptiness, the conceptual thoughts of grasping at the extremes of liberation are exhausted, and it is perfected in the basis of unestablished liberation. What is called equality is that there are two equal causes and three equal conditions, with equal time and measure. In this, there is no duality, it is free from bias, not separated or divided, self-abiding, what is called equality, for the nature of reality, is free from suffering and elaboration. What is called 'ness' is without fabrication or effort, self-nature abides, its essence is emptiness, the nature of mind exhausts all conceptual thoughts. What is called wisdom, from abiding, by realizing its characteristics, does not abide in samsara and nirvana. Individual realization is the category of sense consciousness, whatever appears to whatever, that is its dharma, clearly in sequence. After purifying self-appearance through examination, awareness becomes the nature of the object. What is called individual, for difference, appears in the manner of an antidote, what is called realization is seeing the characteristics, with the increase of self-appearance. What is called 'Ye' (藏文,梵文天城体:ये,梵文罗马拟音:ye,汉语字面意思:耶), when it first appears, wisdom purifies the faults of afflictions. What is called accomplishing actions, after diligence and effort naturally cease, all dharmas naturally abide, naturally liberated. From the manifestation of the basis of natural liberation, one obtains subtle parts free from dust, without impurities. Transcending the object of conceptual thought, it is the nature of reality that cannot be divided. Self-nature is perfected and the limits of appearance are exhausted, it should be realized all at once. Because of accomplishment, one is free from desire, there is no repetition or return. What is called 'Ye' (藏文,梵文天城体:ये,梵文罗马拟音:ye,汉语字面意思:耶), is the meaning of abiding, after manifesting with wisdom, one reaches the place where all dharmas are exhausted. The Dharmadhatu is vast, because there is no grasping at the edge or center, it is the pure nature of reality of the basis of liberation. Dharma is what is practiced, there are no past or worldly affairs, self-nature is clear and expansive. Dhatu is without space, it is the place of the great natural arising. What is called 'Ye' (藏文,梵文天城体:ये,梵文罗马拟音:ye,汉语字面意思:耶), is the nature of perfection, from the beginning there is no fabrication, with wisdom one is liberated from samsara and nirvana, it is the complete intention of self-appearance. Thus, the meaning of the basis is originally pure.
